Juvenile Notes - 20th November

 Under 13
Our under 13s played in the football county final against De La Salle last Friday night in Fraher Field. Our boys started very well, picking off some very good points in the first few minutes. They applied a lot of pressure on the DLS backs all through the first half and led at half time 2-8 to 0-1. In the second half DLS started with intent and mounted a challenge and scored 2-1 within 10 minutes of the restart. The Ballinacourty boys regrouped and soon got back on top and went on to record a deserved win 4-11 to 2-3. During this game there was some great passages of high quality football played, something the panel of players should be proud of. This was superb team effort where all players played very well. This concludes a great year for this age group, who started last February, and have now completed the under 13 Hurling and Football double.

Panel: Jake O’Riordan, Eoin Ahearne, Eoin Flynn, Johnny Treen, Meldan O’Dwyer, Cian Fagan, Sean Kent, Shane Kiely, Seanan Travers, Dean Beresford, Dathi Brunnock, Jamie Walsh, Ben Flynn, Danny Reynolds, Cian O’Riordan, James Riordan, Michael Kiely, Barry Morrissey, Ethan Raher, Daniel Raher, Oisin Hallahan, Michael Troy, David Shields, Sean Roche, David Hayes.

Under 16
Our under 16 footballers were also in county final action last weekend at the Fraher Field. This was a very tense affair throughout and we were leading when unfortunately our opponents Gaultir had a man pick up a very serious leg injury. The ambulance had to be called and the game was abandoned. We wish this player from Gaultir all the best in his recovery from what looked like a very serious injury indeed. This by all accounts was a very sad way for any game to end and everyone would like to thank those who helped the Gaultir player in any way.

Indoor Hurling
Our outdoor hurling sessions on a Saturday have now come to an end and we now move indoors to the Friary for the winter. Dates, times etc will be included in next week’s notes.

Schools
Well done to Abbeyside NS on reaching the final of the Western championship at primary school level last week. While on the day they lost to a bigger Lismore team this team played very well throughout the year. All in the club would like to thank all those involved at promoting our national sports in the schools and to all the teachers involved in training these particular teams.
