The team kept battling throughout the game and with a little bit of luck on the night, they could possibly have won the match, but we wish St. Mary’s the best of luck in the final. We thank the players and management team for all the effort and commitment they showed throughout the year.

Under 16
Our Under 16 hurling team were due to play in the semi final of the county championship on Monday night last away to Roanmore. At the time of going to print the result of this match was not available but will be included in next week’s notes.

Underage Academy
Due to the inclement weather on Saturday morning last all Academy activity was cancelled.
It is football this Saturday between 10.30 and 11.30 for children between Under 6 and 9. Please ensure you bring your mouth guard on the morning.
The Under8 and Under 9 Parish Football league will now commence on the 2nd weekend in October and more will follow next week.

Under 11
We took on St Pat’s on Thursday 22nd in Round 4 of the Town and Country Football League at home. The boys were slow to start and Pat’s were dominating in all areas and deservedly led at half time. Second half wasn't much better for us but with 10 minutes to go we clicked into gear, got the scores, and ran out fortune winners in the end. Next fixture is Gaultier away.

Juvenile Notes - 21st September

Academy
Our academy training sessions for those between the under 6 and under 9 age groups continues on Saturday morning next at the club grounds between 10.30 and 11.30.

Lá na gClub
The Burgery on Saturday morning last was a hive of activity when we hosted our annual Lá na gClub day. There was a big turn out on the day and many cups were played for. The morning turned out to be a huge success and the weather on the morning was perfect. A big thank you to anyone who helped out in any small way to make sure the morning ran smoothly. There are too many names to mention here but a big thank you to everyone involved. A big thank you must go to all the parents and kids who turned out because without those we would have no club.

Under 16
Our Under 16 hurling team received a walkover from Passage in the quarter final of the Under 16 Championship. They are now due to take on Roanmore in the semi final in Roanmore on Monday night next.

Under 11
We took on Lismore last Wednesday evening in Abbeyside in a challenge game. After a competitive hours hurling we came up just short in the end. Then on Friday night last we were due to play St Pat’s in the town and country league football competition. However due to a mix up on the St Pat’s side the game never went ahead and will now be played tomorrow night (Thursday).

Under 14
Our Under 14 hurling team bowed out of the championship on Monday night last against a strong Ballygunner team who were at home on the night. The pitch was far from ideal on the night with the grass too high for hurling. However it was the same for both teams and our lads tried their hearts out throughout. As the saying goes, goals win games and it was the home side that got two early goals and left us chasing the game throughout. Our players tried hard throughout to close the gap and tried till the very end but it wasn’t to be and Ballygunner ran out deserved winners. It wasn’t one of our better performances of the year but everyone in the club is proud of all the lads that played on the night and throughout the year. At the end of a long season it is only right to thank all the players and mentors involved for giving so much of their time to the cause since last February. Well done to all.

Club Day 2016

We held our annual Club Day on Saturday morning last at the Burgery. Over 100 young children took part in the various games where many cups were up for grabs. Many thanks to all who made the day possible from committee members to coaches, referees to special guests. Thanks also to everyone who brought food and drinks. It was much appreciated and added greatly to the enjoyment of the day. Finally thanks to Kieran Russel for the pictures which capture the morning's events so well.
