Minor Football County Champions
Well, done to our Minor Football team who played some outstanding football to lift the County Title in the Gold Coast last Saturday.
On a day more akin to August than November, there was a sizable crowd present to witness both teams put on a great spectacle. It was very much nip and tuck up to the 1st water break at which point the sides were level at 3 points apiece. However, the lads took control of proceedings in the 2nd quarter outscoring our opponents by 1-04 to 0-01 with Seanie Callaghan raising the green flag. The 2nd half followed a similar pattern as Gaultier did their best to stay in the game and again it was the final quarter when we finally took control and ran out 3-13 – 0-07 victors.
A big thanks to the players for the huge effort they put into training all year and especially to John Kiely's management team for all the work they put into training the team all year. Finally, well done to Seanie Callaghan who was named as Man of the Match.
Following the game, the players, management and supporters made the short trip to the Gold Coast Hotel for an after-match meal and refreshments, and we’d like to thank the McGrath family for their hospitality.
This is the 18th time we have won this title and of course to win it in Ballinacourty makes it that little bit more special. Up the Courty!

Club Notes - 10th November

Championship 2021
We bowed out of the Senior football championship when going down to The Nire at the semi final stage. It’s been a long year and on behalf of everyone in the club we’d like to thank the lads for their tremendous commitment throughout. It wasn’t our night on Saturday but with the batteries recharged over the winter there is no doubt we will be back challenging for honours again next year. Also of course our thanks go out to Lar and his selectors, Gary, Mattie and Conor along with all the backroom team for all their efforts.
Thanks, you also to Johnny Mooney and the staff of Eurospar who provided refreshments after training for the past few weeks. This was greatly appreciated by players and mentors alike.
Although we’re disappointed at the relinquishing of our Senior crown there is still much to look forward to for the remainder of the year. The Minor Footballers are still involved the race for the county championship and once a fixture become available, we will post same on our social media accounts and website.
Allied to this the U-20 championships are making a welcome return this year after a Covid enforced absence in 2020. Again, once fixtures are available, we will let you know.
