Intercounty
It was a disappointing weekend for both the Waterford Senior Hurlers and Footballers as both exited the championship. Hard luck to all our lads who were involved.

U15 Féile Hurling
Our U15 hurlers contested the 2022 Féile hurling last week and put in some great performances to qualify for the county semi finals in Carriganore.  Unfortunately, they met a very strong Sacred Heart team on the night and did not progress to the final. The boys now switch their focus to the championship and are looking forward to hurling through the summer.

U13 County Football Finals
Keep an eye out on our social media for updates about the U13 county finals that took place on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th.  Our division 1 team played Stradbally and our division 4 team played Gaultier.

Town and Country Football Leagues
The U12 division 1 team qualified for the county final with a convincing win over St. Olivers at the field on Friday evening and the division 3 boys play their semi final out in Clashmore on Wednesday evening at 7pm.  Best of luck boys!
The U11 division 1 team had a great win against the Brickeys on Thursday at the field and the division 2 boys play our neighbours Dungarvan this week too.

Academy News
The U10’s hosted An Ghaeltacht last Saturday morning and played some mighty football in great conditions.

Mini All-Ireland Hurling 2022
This week sees the long awaited return of our Mini All Ireland hurling championships.  It’s the first time since 2019 that we’ve been able to run the event which always proves popular with our younger members.  The team sheets have been posted in to the schools so by now all the boys should know which county they’ll be representing and the teammates that they’ll line out with.  The qualifier rounds take place mid week with the finals day on Saturday morning.  Keep an eye on social media for updates!!

Bingo
Sunday Night Bingo continues every Sunday at 8pm.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we’d like to extend our sincerest sympathies to the Wade and O Brien families on the death of Deirdre Wade last week.
At the time of the purchase of our grounds there was a substantial amount of fundraising activity and as a member of the Ladies committee at the time Deirdre played a very active role. The O Brien family are of course steeped in the history of our club with Deirdre’s late father Seamus serving for many decades in various roles, whilst brother Brendan was Chairman for a number of years. In more recent times her son Philip won a minor football medal.
Our thoughts are with her family and many friends at this difficult time.

U13 County Football Finals
There’s an exciting week ahead for our U13 footballers as both Ballinacourty panels take part in the county finals.  Having beaten Gaultier last Wednesday in their semi final, the division 1 boys play our neighbours Stradbally on Monday 23rd May at 6:30pm in Fraher Field.
The division 4 boys play Gaultier the following evening (Tuesday 24th), again in Fraher Field with throw-in at 6:30pm.  Our opponents will definitely have a large support for both matches so please go along to support our boys!
Best of luck to all players and mentors involved.

Town & Country Football Leagues
Our division 1 team had a bye this week but our division 3 boys recorded a great win against St. Pats on Friday at the field.  It was a really spirited performance from each and every member of the panel.  Both panels now look forward to the semi finals which are scheduled for the coming weekend.
The U11 boys were also in action as they visited Stradbally but did not come away with a victory this time.

Academy News
Our U8 hurlers had great craic in the sunshine this morning playing an all-county blitz in Carriganore. Even though we were missing a few of the gang we still travelled with 25 young boys from the village.  It was great to see free flowing hurling and the clash of the ash rang out more than a few times!
The only other academy panel that was in action at the weekend was the U10’s because we had lots of players, coaches and family members involved in the first holy communions in the parish last Saturday.  Congratulations to all of our members and friends who made their first communion and best wishes to those in Abbeyside, Garranbane and Scoil Gharbháin who make their confirmation this coming Saturday.
The academy is back in full swing this Saturday and as always; new members are welcome so come along and check it out!

Intercounty
All roads lead to Walsh Park this Sunday when the Waterford Senior Hurlers take on Cork in a vital Munster Championship game. Best of luck to all involved especially our own lads, Conor, Neil and Michael.

County League
The football league continued last weekend with the Seniors registering a 1 point victory against Stradbally last Friday evening on a score line 1-14 to 2-10. The Intermediates were in action also and lost by 1 point versus Sliabh gCua 4-09 to 4-10.

This weekend the hurling recommences with the fixtures as follows –

County Hurling League Division 7 Round 3
Abbeyside B v Passage B – Abbeyside, Saturday, 14th May, 5:00pm

U15 Football Semi Finals
Last Monday (2nd May) saw both of our U15 teams take part in their respective county semi finals. Our division 1 team played Rathgormack in Dungarvan club grounds and lost out by two points after being 11 points down at one stage. It was a tough defeat but everyone in the panel can hold their head high as they really battled hard.
The division 4 team lost out in the plate semi final against Portlaw/Ballyduff in Leamybrien. The boys put in their best performance of the year and can be very proud of themselves.
At juvenile level, success isn’t measured entirely by winning championships. Both of our U15 panels have really improved as individuals and as a team throughout the year. There will be better days ahead for them and great credit must go to the coaches that give their time and dedication to help the boys develop.

U13 Football Semi Final
The boys of the division 4 team took the short spin down to Stradbally to take on St. Pats in their semi-final last night (4th May). After a super intense contest the Ballinacourty boys took the victory by a single point with a score of 0-10 to 0-09. Well done boys and best of luck in the county final.
Our division 1 team play their semi final against Gaultier on Wednesday evening in Stradbally at 6:30pm. Best of luck boys!

Town & Country Football Leagues
Our U12 boys were in action on Friday (29th April) as one group made the trip Tramore and came away with a victory while the other group lost narrowly at home after a good performance against Clashmore. They also played out an exciting draw against Stradbally on Friday 6th May.
The U11 lads also had mixed fortunes as one group beat St. Oliver’s and the other group lost to Lismore.

Academy
Our academy continues every Saturday morning and new members are always welcome. Planning has begun for the return of the “Mini All Irelands” for the first time since 2019. Covid meant that we couldn’t run this for the past two years but we’re delighted to reinstate the tournament because it always generates excitement and enjoyment for all the boys. Watch this space!

U10 Football
Well done to our under 10's who put in a fantastic morning of football out in the Dungarvan GAA grounds last Saturday. It was a great morning for football and the lads made the most of it. Thanks to Dungarvan and Brickey Rangers for two tough games.

Bingo
Sunday Night Bingo continues every Sunday at 8pm.
