U13
Our U13’s are still going strong, their last game being against a strong Tramore team a week ago. The girls did great to come out on top in a fierce battle and are now in the semi-final…. Well done girls! It will be a few weeks before they play again, while we wait for the U-15 to line out in their final.

U12
U12 finished out their season in style with an obstacle course and chips! A lovely end to the year for this great group of girls. Big thanks to all the coaches Neva, Adam, Anita, Edel, Martina, and Denis, who volunteer up so much time to train and help the girls. Also to Megan Foley who helped out whenever she was available, great to see the young players getting involved, thanks Megan!

Sponsored Walk
Our annual sponsored walk will take place this Monday 30th Oct, starting at 11am from Clonea Public Carpark. Last year our walk was a great success, and funds generated were used to purchase jersey sets for our junior and underage girls. Sponsorship cards will not be handed out this year, so please support this fundraiser via our GoFundMe page, via the links on social media.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there, and make sure to wear your fancy dress or Halloween costumes.

We bowed out of the Senior Football championship last Sunday, when losing after a penalty shootout against An Rinn at the Quarter Final stage.
The Junior Footballers are in action this Friday in Ring against Kilrossanty at 7.00pm.

Academy Update
Even as we hit mid-October, the boys of our juvenile academy are still busy with hurling and football.  Our U8’s visited Stradbally on Sunday morning and played very enjoyable hurling matches in the autumn sunshine.
The U9 footballers travelled to Kilworth on Saturday morning to take part in the Munster U9 football blitz. It was a beautiful morning and they lads had great craic playing against St Dominic's (Cork) and Fermoy. Well done boys and thanks to the parents for making the journey.
The U10 boys welcomed James Stephen’s to the field on Saturday morning.  As expected, the challenge from the Kilkenny boys (also known as “The Village”) was a tough one but it was met with a great response from the Abbeyside boys.  Well done to all and thanks to the parent group for providing refreshments afterwards.

U12
Both of our U12 have had busy weekends.  The division 4 team lost narrowly to Ardmore on Friday morning and also to Cappoquin on Sunday morning.  The division 1 team hosted Micheal McCraith Tramore on Friday, recording a convincing win, but lost out to Stradbally on Sunday morning.  They boys now await a fixture for the county semi final so keep an eye out for the fixture.

U14
The U14 division 1 team played the plate final against Clan na Gael on Saturday morning in the newly revamped Walsh Park.  The result didn’t go our way though as Clan na Gael won by 5-8 to 3-9.  Hard luck lads.

Juvenile Update
Our U6, U7 and U10 boys were on the road last weekend with the U8’s and U9’s keeping the home fires burning at the field where they enjoyed.  The U6 & U7 boys headed for An Rinn last Saturday where they played a really enjoyable hurling blitz in Páirc Uí Siothcáin.  Great fun was had by all and the boys hurled with great flair and energy.  The goodie bags afterwards were very well received as well as the tea and coffee for the coaches and parents.  We look forward to returning the favour!

U6s & U7s in Ring

U9
The U9 boy are focusing on the big ball and put in a good training session as they prepare for the Munster U9 football blitz in Kilworth next Saturday morning.  It promises to be a great day out.

U12
Both of our U12 football teams were in action in the All County league on a foggy Sunday morning in Tramore.  It was a good morning for the Ballinacourty boys as they took advantage of the calm conditions to put in two impressive performances. The determination and competitiveness was matched by the skill level and both teams returned home with a victory.

U14
Our two U14 hurling teams were in action in the plate semi finals for their respective divisions on Saturday morning.  The division 1 team hosted Lismore and gained a hard-fought win.  The division 3 team travelled to Poleberry to play Sacred Heart and competed really well but were edged out by their city opponents.  Keep an eye out for the fixture for the division 1 plate final which will likely take place this Saturday.

Camogie News
Junior Camogie
After a long year of training, challenge matches and games, our Junior girls made the county final again this year, which is a great achievement! They were faced with a strong Clonea side who won out in the end, but all credit to this group who fought and battled right to the end…this team continues to improve, and no doubt will lift some silverware soon!

At the post-match meal, the club held a cheque donation from O Reillys Sports in return for the jerseys purchased earlier this year. In memory of Shauna McGrath and Laura Cliffe, former much-loved players, the jerseys include their names on its sleeve. The donation was shared between the McGrath and Cliffe families towards a charity of their choice, Sesame Early Intervention Services and Dungarvan Lions Club respectively.

Academy Update
Our academy for boys ten years old and younger, continues every Saturday morning from 10am.  The weather impacted blitzes again this weekend with our U9’s missing out on a trip to Clonmel Commercials to take part in a tournament and our U10’s having to call off a blitz with James Stephens.

U14
Our U14 division 1 hurlers hosted De la Salle on Saturday morning in conditions that were less than ideal for hurling.  It was nip and tuck throughout the match with De la Salle taking the victory
Our division 3 team were due to play Micheal McCraith Tramore on Saturday evening but due to the heavy rain this match was rescheduled to Wednesday evening at 6:30pm.

U15 County Final
Our U15 hurlers played Clan na Gael on Monday (25th September) in Páirc Uí Siothcáin out in Rinn.  The match was played out in front of a large crowd under the impressive new flood lights.  The Abbeyside boys contested well but were struck with a clutch goal just before half time.  Clan na Gael, who were physically big and strong, played with the breeze in the second half and were able to pull away to take the victory.  Our boys didn’t give up though and kept fighting to the end.  Their efforts were rewarded with a few late scores which demonstrated the spirit in the team.
The result doesn’t define the season for the U15’s.  They had a good year and have shown impressive development that they will build on for next season.  Well done to the players the backroom team.
