Club Notes - 29th July

Championship 2020 Tickets
Our senior hurlers begin their championship campaign on Saturday evening next, 1st August against Ballysaggart in Fraher Field. Due to Covid-19 restrictions on outdoor gatherings, the club has received 45 tickets for this game. Should applications exceed demand, a draw will take place for the tickets. Only fully paid up members are eligible to enter the draw and there is a maximum of one ticket per member. If any member is interested in entering the draw, please submit your name to secretary, Jonathan O'Donovan by 1:00pm on Thursday, 30th July. Tickets cost €10 and there are no concessions.

Also, the following weekend, we play De La Salle in Walsh Park. The criteria for applying for tickets is the same. Please submit your name to the secretary by 1:00pm on Thursday, 6th August.

Finally, our Junior 'A' hurlers play Brickey Rangers on Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd August at 3:30pm in Dungarvan Club Grounds. Anyone wishing to apply for a ticket for this game should contact club chairman, Neil Moore by 1:00pm on Thursday, 30th July.

Senior Hurling
As stated above our Senior hurlers finally get their championship campaign underway when we face off against Ballysaggart this Saturday in Fraher Field at 7.00pm. Preparations have gone well, and we wish Laurence and his team all the best.
Whilst tickets are limited, we would remind supporters that this game will be streamed live. Details are available in the Waterford Co Board website. Of course, nothing beats being there but this is an excellent initiative by all involved affording all who want to see the game the opportunity to do so.

Junior Hurling
The last of our adult hurling teams to see championship action will be our Junior A hurlers who take on Brickey Ranger in Dungarvan club grounds on the Bank Holiday Monday at 3.30pm. This is a championship we went well in last year and we wish Neil Moore and all the lads the very best of luck.
Again, tickets will be limited so please apply if you are interested in attending as per the instructions above.

Deise Draw 2020
Just a reminder once again that the revised Deise Draw will kick off on August 26th. Over the coming weeks we will be making a big effort in this regard as it is one of our primary fundraising streams. We’d appeal to all our members and supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member.

Jack The Joker
Due to the ongoing Covid restrictions we have been forced to push back the relaunch of the ever-popular Jack The Joker. This will now return on the weekend ending 09th August. We will be picking up where we left off on with a Jackpot of €2,800.

Club Notes - 22nd July

Junior B Hurling
There was a little bit of history created last Sunday when our Junior B hurlers became the first team from the club to be involved in an all ticket game versus Dungarvan. Happily, the lads really rose to the occasion and those lucky ticket holders were treated to a fine exhibition of hurling. It was a bit of a surreal occasion as due to the ongoing Covid restrictions there were no dressing rooms open, so it was back to the good old days of getting togged out on the side of the pitch. The grounds were in excellent condition and were a credit to our hosts and the weather conditions were ideal.
The game started at a hundred miles an hour and it was proper championship fare. Our lads started well, competing for every ball and taking some nice scores which gave us a nice lead. Unfortunately, we were hit with a sucker punch of a goal which brought Dungarvan right back into the game. We regrouped at half time however and put on an exhibition of free flowing hurling and score taking in the second half to run out comfortable winners on a score line of 2-23 to 1-04 with Tony Collins and Richie Ryan raising the green flags and Colm Kindergan kept the scoreboard operator busy with 18 points.
This was an overall excellent team performance with super displays all over the pitch. We did pick up a few knocks and bruises but with our next game not until August 07th there will hopefully be plenty of time for the bodies to heal.
It was great to finally get the championship season up and running and even better to get a good result and performance.

U-15 Hurling
The U-15 travelled to De La Salle on Friday evening last and came up against a fine team. Unfortunately, defeat was our lot but we have a quick opportunity to make amends when Brickey Rangers visit the club grounds on this Wednesday at 7.00.

Deise Draw 2020
The revised Deise Draw will kick off on August 26th. Over the coming weeks we will be making a big effort in this regard as it is one of our primary fundraising streams. We’d appeal to all our member and supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member.

Club Notes - 15th July

Return To Play
The field has been a hive of activity since we were allowed to come back following the Covid break. Every evening there are numerous teams training from adult all the way down to juvenile hurling camogie and football. During this time we also saw a number of challenge games take place as teams limber up for upcoming championship action.
The grounds are in immaculate condition and it is a testament to a great club spirit that so many gave of their time during the lockdown to tend to the pitches and an assortment of other improvements.
We’d also like to say a big thank you to Dan Casey who facilitated us with a training area in the weeks Croke Park sanctioned get togethers were allowed but the pitch remained closed. This was a very generous gesture appreciated by all.

Championship 2020
The first adult team returning to action are our Junior B hurlers who take on Dungarvan this coming in Sunday in the Dungarvan club grounds at 2.00pm. Hopefully the lads can pick up where they left off when winning the Junior C county title last year. The very best of luck to all involved. The 2nd group game versus Ballyduff will take place in the club grounds on Friday 07th August.
We have also got notification of our Senior Hurling fixtures and first game out is versus Ballysaggart on Saturday 01st August in Fraher field followed by a trip to Walsh Park the following Sunday 09th August to take on De La Salle.
Out Junior A hurling team will see action on Monday 03rd August against The Brickies, with the remaining game against Kilrossanty on Sunday 09th August.
The minor hurling championship commences on the August Bank holiday weekend.
Given the new format of each championship the games will be coming thick and fast. Following months of inactivity, it will be fantastic, and a challenge all involved are looking forward to.

Deise Draw 2020
The revised Deise Draw will kick off on August 26th. Over the coming weeks we will be making a big effort in this regard as it is one of our primary fundraising streams. We’d appeal to all our member and supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member.

Jack The Joker
The ever popular Jack The Joker will return on the 2nd of August. We will be picking up where we left off on with a Jackpot of €3,000.
