Club Notes - 22nd December

Annual General Meeting
Our Club AGM took place last Wednesday. Owing to the prevailing Covid situation for the 2nd year running we were online. There was a sizable number of people logged in and thankfully everything went off seamlessly.
Chairman Neil Moore opened proceeding by welcoming everyone and expressing the wish that hopefully we can return to normality for next year. The financial accounts were presented and even in a year of somewhat curtailed activity it is still revealing to see the costs associated with running a club of our size. The accounts were approved and adopted, and thanks were expressed to Pakie Hurney for his diligent work throughout the year. Jonathan O’Donovan produced an excellent and comprehensive Secretary’s Report which covered in great detail all elements of the club’s activities in 2021. Having been received very favourably by all those present and following a discussion on areas raised therein the report was approved.
The Chairman then gave a wide-ranging address which again touched on everything that has been happening over the past 12 months. He thanked in particular all his fellow officers, committee members, players, team management, everyone working away in the background and all those who continue to contribute to the ongoing development works at our club grounds. On the playing side he congratulated our Senior Footballer who won the delayed 2020 county final, the Minor Football County champions and the U-20 hurlers who won the Western Title.
The last item on the agenda was the election of Officers and the committee for 2021. The outgoing officers were ratified for reappointment and a new committee elected. This ended the meeting as there was no other business and the Chairman called preceding to a halt.

Below are the club officers and committee for 2022
Presidents: Liam Enright, Joseph Organ, Bernard Shields, Fr. Michael Enright, P.E.
Vice Presidents: Fr. Michael Brennock, OSA, Fr. Colin Fives, OSA, Fr. Ned Hassett, PP
Chairman: Neil Moore
Assistant Chairman: Michael Ferncombe
Secretary: Jonathan O’Donovan
Treasurer: Pakie Hurney
Membership Officer: Kevin Tobin
PRO: Paidi Shields
Committee: Eddie O Halloran, Michael O Donovan, Joe Cleary, Frank Sweeney, Jim O Mahony, Timmy Organ, Danny McGrath, Tom Whelan, Tomas Kiely, Michelle Kiely, Eleanor McGrath.

U20 Hurling
The U20 hurlers put up a very good performance on Sunday last in the County Final against Ballygunner. The lads started very brightly and were well in the game for long periods. Unfortunately we eventually had to give best to a very talented opposition on a 0-19 – 0-10 score line. All involved can be very happy with their season and hopefully we’ll be back stringer next year.

Jack The Joker
The ever-popular Jack The Joker draw took place on Monday night last. Maurice O Donnell was drawn and picked number 8. When turned this was not the Joker, but he did win €50. Hiker McGrath and Donnacha Enright won €25 each. The jackpot next week will be €1,600.

Get Well Soon
On behalf of all in the club we’d like to wish Doc Enright all the best as he recuperates from a brief hospital stay. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we see him back out an about again.

Sympathy
We’d like to offer our condolences to the Daly family on the death of Michael. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
