Club Notes - 26th July

Jack The Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Alice Connors Bar where the jackpot is €2000 as on Sunday night Maura Toddy was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 17 which when turned was the Joker meaning she won the jackpot of €4000. Pat Moore and Paul Gallagher won €25 each. As well as our group of ticket sellers tickets can be purchased from Village Flowers, Spar, Mousies Takeaway, Minnies Bar, Abbeyside Post Office and Crotty’s Bar.

Senior Football
This Sunday night we play An Rinn in Round 2 of the Senior Football Championship in Fraher Field at 8pm.

Deuces Wild
This Friday night we are holding a fundraising concert in Creation Nightclub with music provided by the excellent Deuces Wild. Admission is €10 and tickets are available from club committee members and players.

Welcome Home
On behalf of all in the club we would like to welcome Fr. Colin Fives home to Abbeyside on his annual holiday from his work in the missions in Nigeria. Hopefully he will have to delay his return to Nigeria until after the All Ireland Hurling Final.

Field Bookings
We ask that all team managers book their times for training / matches with Michael O’Donovan in advance of returning to training. Managers must notify Michael in advance if they wish to change from their allocated time.

Club Bingo
Our club bingo session continues in the CBS Hall this Sunday night with a jackpot of €1650.

Club Notes - 19th July

Jack The Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €4,000 as on Sunday night The Morning Club was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 1 which when turned wasn’t the Joker but they did win €50. Richie Walsh and Tom and Kevin won €25 each. As well as our group of ticket sellers tickets can be purchased from Village Flowers, Spar, Mousies Takeaway, Minnies Bar, Abbeyside Post Office and Crotty's Corner Bar.

Junior Hurling
Last weekend both of our Junior teams were in Championship action. First up were our Junior B team who played Lismore in Cappoquin on Sunday morning at 12 where despite being under pressure to field a team they came away with an excellent win.

Later on Sunday evening our Junior C team played Kilgobnet in Fraher Field where after a most exciting game they came away with a one point win.

This weekend we play Dungarvan in the Junior B Championship on Friday night at 7pm in Fraher Field.  On Saturday we play Clashmore in the Junior C Championship in Bushy Park at 7:30 pm.

Congratulations
On behalf of all in the club we would like to congratulate Mark Ferncombe and Cassandra Dee who were married last weekend. We wish them both many years of happiness together.

Déise Draw
The July Déise Draw took place last week and we had two winners on the night. John and Treasa Dillon won €500 and Tiernan Murray won €100.

Club Notes - 12th July

Intermediate Football
On Friday night last we played Colligan in the Western Championship in Fraher Field, where a strong first half display helped us to our fourth win in the Championship. We have one game remaining in the Championship against Dungarvan.

Senior Football
Our Senior Footballers played Rathgormack on Sunday morning last in Rathgormack in the County League where they recorded a very good win. They have now qualified for the Semi Final of the League.

This weekend both of our Junior teams are in Championship action. First up are our Junior B team who play Lismore in Cappoquin on Sunday morning at 12pm and on Sunday evening our Junior C team play Kilgobnet in Fraher Field at 7pm.

Hooli Long Puck
On behalf of all in the club we would like to congratulate Dungarvan GAA Club and especially the members of the organising committee of the Hooli Long Puck which was held last weekend. Following the success of last year was always going to be a difficult task but huge credit to all involved for ensuring that this year’s event was another wonderful success. It was great to see so many of our own club members taking part in the Long Puck and in The Park Hotel later on Saturday night to round off a great day. Once again well done to all involved for organising a great event for a most worthy cause.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the O’Connor family on the death of Alice O’Connor in Clonmel recently. O’Connor’s Bar have been generous sponsors of our club for many years now and it has been the venue for many celebrations after County Finals.  Once again we send our sympathies to Alice’s family but especially to Brian, Kay and Roisin and of course Alice Marie O’Connor.

Intermediate Football
On Friday night last we played Stradbally in the Western Championship in Abbeyside, where the team recorded a very good win. This Friday night we play Colligan in Fraher Field at 7:30 pm.

Our Senior Footballers played Ballinameela on Sunday morning last in Abbeyside in the County League where they recorded a very good win. They play Clashmore at 7:30 in Clashmore on Wednesday night and on Sunday they travel to Rathgormack to take on the home side in the County League.

Club History
Abbeyside / Ballinacourty GAA Club was formed in 1967 as a result of the amalgamation of Abbeyside Hurling and Football Clubs and Ballinacourty Football Club. It is situated within the Parish of Abbeyside, Ballinroad and Garranbane. Located on the eastern side of the River Colligan, it forms the northern and eastern shorelines of Dungarvan Harbour from Abbeyside Church to Ballinacourty Lighthouse

Development Fund
Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past 10 years with the population of our parish increasing rapidly. We must ensure that we have the best facilities for all our players. We want to ensure that the next generation have the facilities that they need and deserve. We are asking supporters and friends to support this project over the next five years.
