Club Notes - 26th August

Minor Hurling
A surreal atmosphere enveloped the Fraher Field last Wednesday evening when our minor hurlers faced off against Ballygunner in the County Final. Due to the updated government direction on Tuesday this game was played behind closed doors. Conditions weren’t wholly conducive to hurling but it is a credit to both teams that they served up a high-quality game full of skill and drama. Ultimately, we were to be disappointed but the lads can be more than proud of their display and their performances throughout the year.
Hard luck to all involved but focus switched immediately to football with a hectic schedule of 3 games in the next week.

Deise Draw 2020
Just a reminder once again that the revised Deise Draw is kicking off on this Wednesday, August 26th. As it is one of our primary fundraising streams, we’d appeal to all our members and supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member or promoter if you haven’t already done so.

Jack The Joker
The ever-popular Jack The Joker draw took place in Minnies on Monday night last. Jack McCarron was drawn and picked number 34. This however wasn’t the Joker but he did win €50. Consequently, the jackpot rolls on to next week and will be €3,000. Emma Toal and Michael O Mahony also won €25

Club Notes - 19th August

Championship 2020
In what can only be described as a disappointing weekend our three adult hurling teams departed their respective championships. We’d like to thank the players and mentors for the massive effort put in over the season. We’ll regroup over the winter and be back next year with renewed enthusiasm. However, we can’t afford to dwell on if’s and buts and maybes, focus switches immediately to football and with Senior, Intermediate and Junior teams fielding it will be all systems go for the next few weeks.

Minor Hurling
The minor hurlers pit in an excellent performance last Thursday in Carrickbeg to defeat De La Salle 0-19 – 01-09. We know face Ballygunner in the County Final in Fraher Field on Wednesday 19th August at 6.30. We wish all involved the very best of luck. Just a reminder that this game is all ticket.
There is no let up for the lads then as on Monday the 24th we begin our football campaign with a game versus St Pats / Naomh Brid.

Deise Draw 2020
Just a reminder once again that the revised Deise Draw will kick off on August 26th. Over the coming weeks we will be making a big effort in this regard as it is one of our primary fundraising streams. We’d appeal to all our members and supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member.

Jack The Joker
The ever-popular Jack The Joker relaunch took place in Minnies on Monday night last. Stags & Gerry were drawn and pick number 34. This however wasn’t the Joker but the lads did win €50. Consequently, the jackpot rolls on to next week and will be €2,900. Gail Sandford and Tiernan Murray also won €25.

Championship 2020 Tickets
We play Lismore in the County Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Final on Sunday evening next, 16th August at 6:15pm in Fraher Field. As with previous matches, our ticket allocation is extremely limited and undoubtedly demand will far outstrip supply. Any fully paid up adult member who would like to enter the draw for a ticket must give their name to the secretary, Jonathan O'Donovan by 1:00pm on Thursday, 13th August. Only one ticket per member. All tickets will be charged at full price and there are no concessions.

At time of writing we do not have fixture details for the Junior B Western Semi Final. If similar restrictions are in place details will be posted on our Club Zap. Likewise, if the Junior A hurlers qualify for their semi-final.

Senior Hurling
Our senior hurlers played De La Salle on Saturday last in our final group game. On a blistering evening both teams performed admirably to put on a tough honest championship encounter. Although we were on the wrong side of a 3-15 to 1-15 score line there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. Following our victory over Ballysaggart we finished second in the group and we now play Lismore in the quarter final on Sunday next in Fraher Field in what is sure to be another tough encounter. Best of luck to the lads.
Again, we will remind you that whilst tickets are limited, this game will be streamed live. Details are available in the Waterford Co Board website. Of course, nothing beats being there but this is an excellent initiative by all involved affording all who want to see the game the opportunity to do so.

Junior Hurling
The Junior B hurlers took on Ballyduff in our own club grounds on Friday last in their second group. This was a true championship test and the team showed great fighting spirit throughout and just came up short in the end with the final score being 1-19 to 2-15. We have however qualified for the Western semi-final against Fourmilewater. Although there are no fixture details to hand at the moment it is expected to take place next weekend. Once we receive confirmation it will be posted on Club Zap and the club website.

The Junior A hurlers are in action this evening (Monday) where a win over Kilrossanty will see them qualify for the Western semi-final.

Minor Hurling
The minors continued their fine form with a good 1-17 to 2-11 victory over Clonea last Wednesday evening. We now progress to a County semi-final versus De La Salle this coming Thursday.

The relaunch of the ever-popular Jack The Joker took place in Minnies on Monday night. Prize winners will be published in next week’s notes.

Senior Hurling
We finally had our 1st senior championship outing last Saturday when Ballysaggart provided the opposition in Fraher Field. A solid, workmanlike and overall excellent team performance saw us run out winners on a score line of 2-23 to 1-06. This Saturday we play De La Salle in what is sure to be a stiffer test. Throw in is at 6.30pm in Walsh Park.
Again, we will remind you that whilst tickets are limited, this game will be streamed live. Details are available in the Waterford Co Board website. Of course, nothing beats being there but this is an excellent initiative by all involved affording all who want to see the game the opportunity to do so.

Junior Hurling
The Junior A hurlers took on Brickey Rangers in Dungarvan club grounds on the Bank Holiday Monday. Unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of a 1-15 to 0-12 score line.
We are back in action next Sunday at 12.00 noon against Kilrossanty in Bushy Park.

The Junior B hurlers are back in action on Friday in our own field at 7.00pm when Ballyduff will provide the opposition. A win will see us top the group so hopefully the lads can put in a big performance.

Minor Hurling
A fine first half performance set the minor hurlers up for an excellent 2-19 to 2-09 victory over St. Pats/Naomh Brid at the club grounds last Saturday. This championship continues on Wednesday 5th August when we travel to Clonea for a 7.30pm throw in.

Jack The Joker
Due to the ongoing Covid restrictions we have been forced to push back the relaunch of the ever-popular Jack The Joker. This will now return on the weekend ending 09th August. We will be picking up where we left off on with a Jackpot of €2,800.
