Club Notes - 29th August

Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €4800 as on Sunday night Ciara Clancy was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 9 which when turned wasn’t the joker but she did win €50. The Walsh family and Paudie Kiely won €25 each.

Senior Hurling
On Saturday night last we defeated Tallow in the quarter finals of the County Championship in Fraher Field. This was a very encouraging performance from the team and we now meet De La Salle in the semi finals on the weekend of September 22nd / 23rd.

Junior Hurling
Our Junior hurlers exited the championship on Sunday afternoon last as we were defeated by Tourin in a very hard fought game. Unfortunately at the full time whistle there was only a point between the sides after we had led for most of the match. We would like to thank the players for their efforts and commitment throughout the year and wish Tourin the best of luck for the rest of the Championship.

Club Notes - 22nd August


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Crotty’s Bar where the jackpot is €4600 as on Sunday night B. Carroll was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 49 which when turned wasn’t the joker but he did win €50. Jack Hurney and Dylan Hogan won €25 each.

Junior Hurling
Last Saturday night our Junior A hurlers took on St Mary’s in our last game in the league section of the Championship. At the end of a tough encounter played in poor weather the teams were level 1:10 each. This Sunday we play Tourin in the Western Quarter Final at 3pm in Fraher Field.

Club Notes - 15th August


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Crotty’s Bar where the jackpot is €4400 as on Sunday night Michael Mernin was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 4 which when turned wasn’t the joker but he did win €50. Nell Flynn and Kay O'Connor won €25 each.

Junior Hurling
Last weekend saw both of our Junior Hurling teams in Championship action as they both played in a doubleheader in Fraher Field on Saturday. Firstly our Junior C team took on An Rinn in the quarter final of the Western Championship. Unfortunately on the night it was An Rinn who took the honours meaning we now exit the championship.  We would like to thank the players and the management team for all their commitment throughout the year.
This was followed by our Junior A team's game against Kilrossanty where we ran out winners. It was great to see Evan Collins back in the club jersey after a lengthy spell out injured. This Saturday night we play St Mary’s at 8pm in Fraher Field.

Club on the Move
Participants enjoyed week 4 of our Healthy club initiative in association with Waterford Sports Partnership. With 2 weeks remaining, we are encouraging current and prospective participants to provide feedback, and ideas for future initiatives. Let's keep building! County U15 'A' Hurling Champions

Congratulations to our U15 hurling panel and mentors on their 6-12 to 5-4 victory over Clonea in the County Final played at Walsh Park this morning. This is the second time we have won this relatively new competition, the first being in 2015. Well done to all involved.

Margaret Duggan and Eddie O'Halloran won €25 each.

Junior Hurling
This weekend sees both of our Junior Hurling teams in Championship action as they both play in a doubleheader in Fraher Field on Saturday. Firstly our Junior C team take on An Rinn at 5:30pm in the quarter final of the Western Championship. This is followed by our Junior A team’s game against Kilrossanty at 7pm.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Greg O'Brien who passed away over the weekend.  Greg's father Seamus was of course a legendary figure in our club for many decades and Greg along with his brothers continued this proud family tradition. Once again we send our sympathies to Greg's family and wide circle of friends.

Club Notes - 1st August


Jack The Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Crotty’s Bar where the jackpot is €4000 as on Sunday night Sophie Cosgrave was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 12 which when turned wasn’t the joker but she did win €50. Jim Egan and Patricia Power won €25 each.

Club on the Move - Week 2
All participants including some new welcome faces thoroughly enjoyed week 2 of our Healthy Club Initiative in association with Waterford Sports Partnership. The rain didn't stop the group on Friday night either, with Pat Keane mastering his stretches. Well done everybody!

Senior Hurling
On Friday night last we played Roanmore in Kill in the Semi Final of the County League. Weather conditions were far from ideal for hurling and on the night it was our opponents who emerged victorious who emerged as deserved winners.

Club History
Abbeyside / Ballinacourty GAA Club was formed in 1967 as a result of the amalgamation of Abbeyside Hurling and Football Clubs and Ballinacourty Football Club. It is situated within the Parish of Abbeyside, Ballinroad and Garranbane. Located on the eastern side of the River Colligan, it forms the northern and eastern shorelines of Dungarvan Harbour from Abbeyside Church to Ballinacourty Lighthouse

Development Fund
Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past 10 years with the population of our parish increasing rapidly. We must ensure that we have the best facilities for all our players. We want to ensure that the next generation have the facilities that they need and deserve. We are asking supporters and friends to support this project over the next five years.
