Club Notes - 30th January


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €5000 as on Sunday night Michael Cosgrave, Ballycoe was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 24 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. John Michael Duggan and Grace Kirwan won €25 each.

Inter County Activity
Last weekend saw both the Waterford Senior Football and Hurling teams open their National League campaigns. On Saturday the footballers lost out narrowly to Wicklow in Fraher Field where Aaron Beresford, Sean Whelan Barrett and Brian Looby were on the team and Kevin Dwane was on the panel. On Sunday the hurlers recorded a big win over Offaly in Thurles where Conor Prunty was on the team.

Membership
With the playing season commencing very shortly we ask all players to get their membership paid quickly. Also non playing members can pay their membership in the coming weeks. Membership can be paid to Kevin Tobin. This Saturday morning Kevin will be in the Clubhouse from 10:30 am to 12 noon to collect membership from anyone wishing to pay it.

Club Bingo
Our club bingo continues in the CBS Hall this Sunday night where the jackpot is €750.

Club Notes - 23rd January


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €4800 as on Sunday night Jack O'Hare was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 12 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. Stags and Gerry and Olivere Maher won €25 each.

County Board Awards Night
On Friday night last the Annual County Board Awards Night took place in Lawlors Hotel where the club were well represented.  Moll Shields was be honoured for her service to Scór for many years and Daithi Breathnach was be presented with his award as Under 18 footballer of the Year. Also on the night Michael Kiely was named as the Waterford Underage Hurler of the Year. This was a fantastic honour for Michael and his family and indeed all our club.

Our club bingo continues in the CBS Hall this Sunday night where the jackpot is €700.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we would like to send our sympathies to the family and friends of the late Michael Wright who was tragically killed over the weekend.  Michael was a hugely popular figure not alone in Dungarvan but throughout all of West Waterford.  Michael's nephews played for our Club and indeed continue to do so.  Once again we send our sympathies to Michael's family and his large circle of friends.

Senior Championship Draws

The draws for this year's County Senior Hurling and Football Championships took place at last night's County Board Meeting in Lawlor's Hotel. 2019 will see the same structure as last year, with three groups of four teams in both hurling and football. The top team in each group along with the best second placed team will qualify for the quarter finals. The remaining eight teams will play off to determine the final four qualifiers.

In Senior Hurling Abbeyside was drawn in Group B along with Fourmilewater, Mount Sion and Roanmore.

In Senior Football Ballinacourty was drawn in Group C along with Brickey Rangers, An Rinn and Gaultier.

Club Notes - 16th January

Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €4600 as on Sunday night Eamonn Power was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 47 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. Barbara Power and Muriel Mills won €25 each.

Club Notes - 9th January


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €4400 as on Sunday night Joe McGovern was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 28 which when turned was not the joker but she did win €50. Fr. Cooney and Marian Kiely won €25 each.

Granville Hotel/WLR FM Sports Star Award
This Saturday night the Annual Granville Hotel /WLR FM Sports Star Awards take place. We are deeply honoured to have two monthly winners nominated for the overall award and we wish Mark Ferncombe and Michael Kiely the very best of luck on the night.

Intercounty Activity
On Sunday last both Waterford Senior hurlers and footballers were in action in the Munster Competitions.  Conor Prunty was on the hurling team whilst Aaron Beresford, Brian Looby and Sean Whelan Barrett were on the football team. Unfortunately both teams were defeated by Clare. We would like to congratulate Brian Looby on being named as captain of the footballers for the coming year.

Club History
Abbeyside / Ballinacourty GAA Club was formed in 1967 as a result of the amalgamation of Abbeyside Hurling and Football Clubs and Ballinacourty Football Club. It is situated within the Parish of Abbeyside, Ballinroad and Garranbane. Located on the eastern side of the River Colligan, it forms the northern and eastern shorelines of Dungarvan Harbour from Abbeyside Church to Ballinacourty Lighthouse

Development Fund
Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past 10 years with the population of our parish increasing rapidly. We must ensure that we have the best facilities for all our players. We want to ensure that the next generation have the facilities that they need and deserve. We are asking supporters and friends to support this project over the next five years.
