2018 County Senior Football League Champions

Congratulations to our senior footballers and management team on their hard fought 1-10 to 1-6 victory over Rathgormack in the 2018 Senior Football League Final played in Carrickbeg this evening. Trailing 1-5 to 1-2 after thirty minutes, the lads put in a strong second half showing to run out four point winners.

Club Notes - 27th February


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €5800 as on Sunday night Susan Kiely was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 36 which when turned was not the joker but she did win €50. Kevin Hally and Tom and Marian Whelan won €25 each.

Inter County Activity
Last weekend saw the Waterford Senior Hurling team defeated by Dublin in the National League where Conor Prunty was on the team. The County Footballers fared much better as the defeated Wexford where Aaron Beresford, Brian Looby and Sean Whelan Barrett were on the team.

Fitzgibbon Cup
On Saturday last UCC defeated Mary Immaculate College in the Fitzgibbon Cup Final.  The club had a player on both panels and we congratulate Neil Montgomery on winning a Fitzgibbon medal and commiserate with Eoin Kiely who was on the losing panel.

Under 19 Football
This Saturday our Under 19 footballers begin their Championship campaign as they take on Gaultier in Abbeyside at 4pm.

Under 21 Medal Presentation
On Friday night next, March 8th, we will be presenting the Under 21 medals to our County Double winners in the Gold Coast at 8pm. Also on the night we will be honouring the 1966 Under 21 hurling team. All are most welcome to come along on the night and join us for what promises to be a great night.

Membership
With the playing season commencing very shortly we ask all players to get their membership paid quickly. Also non playing members can pay their membership in the coming weeks. Membership can be paid to Kevin Tobin.

Club Bingo
Our club bingo continues in the CBS Hall this Sunday night where the jackpot is €950.

Club Notes - 20th February


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €5600 as on Sunday night Jack O'Hare was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 10 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. Jack Curran and David Power won €25 each.

Inter County Activity
Last weekend saw the Waterford Senior Hurling team defeated Carlow in Fraher Field in the National League where Conor Prunty was on the team. This weekend they take on Dublin in Parnell Park while the footballers take on Wexford in Wexford Park.

Minor Football
This Sunday morning our minor footballers travel to Ballymac to take on The Nire in their first game of the County Championship with throw in at 11:30 am.

Membership
With the playing season commencing very shortly we ask all players to get their membership paid quickly. Also non playing members can pay their membership in the coming weeks. Membership can be paid to Kevin Tobin.

Our club bingo continues in the CBS Hall this Sunday night where the jackpot is €900.

Club Notes - 13th February


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €5400 as on Sunday night Billy Kyne was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 7 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. Jason O’Donovan and Christy Dunford won €25 each.

Inter County Activity
Last weekend saw the Waterford Senior Football team continue their National League campaign as they took on Derry in Fraher Field. Unfortunately on the day they suffered a narrow defeat where Aaron Beresford, Sean Whelan Barrett and Brian Looby were on the team and Kevin Dwane was on the panel.

Floodlighting Improvements
Last weekend saw a hard working crew of club volunteers install the first phase of the floodlighting upgrade to our training pitch. These LED lights will prove a great addition to the club as all our teams from under 6 up to Senior will be able to avail of the facility.
We would like to thank Ian and Hiker in particular for the work they put into planning this project for a number of months.
Also we thank those who supported our Dog Night before Christmas as the money raised on the night funded the cost of the lights. With your continued support we look forward to moving ahead with further development works in our grounds.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we would like to send our sympathies to the family and friends of the late Paddy Fitzgerald, Dungarvan who passed away recently.  Paddy gave a lifetime of service to the GAA and was well known throughout the County due to his involvement with Scór for many years and also through his role as caretaker in Fraher Field.  Once again we send our sympathies to Paddy’s family and all in Dungarvan GAA Club on their loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

Club Notes - 6th February


Jack the Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Minnies Bar where the jackpot is €5200 as on Sunday night Dennis Cosgrave was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 11 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. Marie and Shirley and Paudie Whelan won €25 each.

Inter County Activity
Last weekend saw both the Waterford Senior Football and hurling teams continue their National League campaigns. On Sunday the footballers lost out narrowly to Limerick in Rathkeale where Aaron Beresford, Sean Whelan Barrett and Brian Looby were on the team and Kevin Dwane was on the panel. Also on Sunday the hurlers recorded a big win over Laois in Portlaoise where Conor Prunty was on the team.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to our Club Chairman Michael Briggs on the death of his stepfather Michael Chester, Lisduggan, Waterford City. The Briggs family has made an enormous contribution to our Club and we send our sympathies to Michael and all his family but especially to Michael's mother Kitty on her loss. Club History
Abbeyside / Ballinacourty GAA Club was formed in 1967 as a result of the amalgamation of Abbeyside Hurling and Football Clubs and Ballinacourty Football Club. It is situated within the Parish of Abbeyside, Ballinroad and Garranbane. Located on the eastern side of the River Colligan, it forms the northern and eastern shorelines of Dungarvan Harbour from Abbeyside Church to Ballinacourty Lighthouse

Development Fund
Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past 10 years with the population of our parish increasing rapidly. We must ensure that we have the best facilities for all our players. We want to ensure that the next generation have the facilities that they need and deserve. We are asking supporters and friends to support this project over the next five years.
