Minor Football
On Sunday afternoon last our Minor Footballers travelled to Kill to take on Rathgormack in a repeat of last year’s County Final. Like last year’s game it was a very exciting game, with a well taken goal giving our lads a slender halftime lead. Our opponents kept fighting throughout the second half and the result hung in the balance until some well taken points late on left us assured of victory.
The victory completed a great 6 weeks for our club that saw us win the 2017 and 2018 Under 21 County titles and this Minor win was a testament to the great work done by their management team not alone this year but over the past number of years. Once again we say well done to all the players and management team involved.

County Minor 'A' Football Champions

Congratulations to our Minor Footballers and management team on their fantastic 1-10 to 0-7 victory over Rathgormack in the County 'A' Final played today in Kill. The lads held a slender one point lead at half time before a very disciplined and hard working second half, in extremely warm conditions, saw the team deservedly win by six points. This is our first title at this grade since 2015 and seventeenth in total. The win caps a fabulous few weeks for the club following victories in the 2017 & 2018 County U21 'A' Football Finals.

Jack The Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Alice O’Connor’s Bar where the jackpot is €10000 as on Sunday night Deirdre Flynn was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 36 which when turned was not the joker but she did win €50. Jimmo Meehan and John Fitzgerald won €25 each. As well as our group of ticket sellers tickets can be purchased from Village Flowers, Spar, Mousies Takeaway, Minnies Bar, Abbeyside Post Office and Crotty’s Bar.

Under 21 Football
On Sunday afternoon our Under 21 footballers travelled to Walsh Park to take on Gaultier in the County Final.  When the sides met a few weeks ago in the 2017 County Final there was very little between the sides so all involved with the team were aware they would have to be at their best to retain our County Title. A blitz like start saw the lads take a lead they wouldn’t surrender for the rest of the match.  The team got some wonderful scores and coupled with great defensive play they ran out comprehensive winners 3:15 to 0:11.
It is a sign of a great team to win championships back to back but to do so in the space of 8 weeks makes the achievement all the more significant. We say well done to all the players and management team involved in this notable victory for the club.
