Sympathy
It was with a deep sense of shock we learnt of
the sudden passing of former player Michael O Connor on Sunday. On behalf of
all in the club we would like to extend our sympathies to his family and wide
circle of friends. The O Connor family have of course a long association with
our club, with Michael’s father Danny playing many years and indeed was a
member of the 1st Abbeyside team to win an adult title when we
defeated Dunhill in the 1950 Junior Hurling Final. Michael and his brothers Liam
and Austin carried on that tradition for many years and Michael himself was
part of some of our greatest moments as a member of the Senior Football panel
in 1978 and 1979, whilst also winning an U21 football title in 1971.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at
this difficult time.
Munster
Club
Congratulations to
Ballygunner on their victory over Kilmallock on Sunday in the Munster Club
Senior Hurling Final. It’s great to see a Waterford team flying the flag
successfully on the national stage and we wish them all the best in the
upcoming All Ireland series.
