Club Notes - 30th August

Jack The Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Saturday night in Alice O’Connor’s Bar where the jackpot is €3000 as on Sunday night Laurence, Ellen and David Power were drawn out of the drum and chose card number 3 which when turned was not the joker but they did win €50. Tom Whelan and Cassandra Dee won €25 each. As well as our group of ticket sellers tickets can be purchased from Village Flowers, Spar, Mousies Takeaway, Minnies Bar, Abbeyside Post Office and Crotty’s Bar.

Senior Hurling
On Saturday night last we had a very good win over Roanmore in the County League, meaning we have now qualified for the semi final of the league.

Best of Luck
On behalf of all in the club we would like to wish the Waterford Senior hurlers the very best of luck ahead of the All Ireland Hurling Final this Sunday. We especially wish Conor Prunty, Tomás Kiely and Colm O'Hare the very best of luck. Here's hoping that the Liam McCarthy Cup will be back in the Déise after Sunday's game

Western Junior Final
We play Ballyduff Upper in the Western final of the Junior B hurling championship in Cappoquin at 6:30pm this Friday evening.

All Ireland Hurling Final Draw
As you may be aware we are holding a raffle for 2 All Ireland Hurling Final tickets with accommodation in the Clayton Burlington Hotel on the night before the match. Tickets cost €5 each or 3 for €10 and are on sale from any player or committee member. So far there has been a fantastic response to the draw so be sure to buy your ticket if you haven’t already done so.

Field Bookings
We ask that all team managers book their times for training / matches with Michael O’Donovan in advance of returning to training. Managers must notify Michael in advance if they wish to change from their allocated time.

Club Bingo
Our club bingo session continues in the CBS Hall this Sunday night with a jackpot of €500.

Club Notes - 23rd August

Jack The Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Alice O'Connor’s Bar where the jackpot is €2800 as on Sunday night Jim Egan was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 11 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. Chopper Hayes and Sharon and Gully won €25 each. As well as our group of ticket sellers tickets can be purchased from Village Flowers, Spar, Mousies Takeaway, Minnies Bar, Abbeyside Post Office and Crotty’s Bar.

Junior Hurling
On Friday night last we took on Shamrocks in our final game of the league section in the Junior C championship in Tourin. At the end of a competitive game of hurling it was our opponents who emerged victorious by a goal. Despite this loss we have qualified for the knockout stages of the championship.

Western Junior Final
We play Ballyduff Upper in the Western final of the Junior B Hurling Championship in Cappoquin at 7pm on Friday evening next, September 1st.

Club Notes - 16th August

Jack The Joker

Ciara Clancy and Ria Barry won €25 each. Intermediate Football
We play Modeligo this Saturday night in the Western League Final at 7:30pm in Dungarvan Club Grounds.

Junior Hurling
On Saturday last both of our Junior Hurling teams were in Championship action. First up were our Junior C side who were defeated by Brickey Rangers after a very competitive and entertaining game. Later that night our Junior B team took on Fourmilewater in the Western Semi Final in Fraher Field. Again this was a very competitive game where we came out winners by 4 points. We now play Ballyduff Upper in the Western Final. 
This weekend we play Shamrocks in the Junior C championship in Cappoquin at 7pm on Friday night.

All Ireland Hurling Final
Anybody wishing to order tickets for the All Ireland Hurling Final should place their order with Tomas Kiely as soon as possible.

Club Notes - 9th August

Jack The Joker
Our ever popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in Alice Connors Bar where the jackpot is €2400 as on Sunday night Michael Mansfield was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 13 which when turned was not the joker but he did win €50. Diarmuid O'Hare and Fr. Colin Fives won €25 each. As well as our group of ticket sellers tickets can be purchased from Village Flowers, Spar, Mousies Takeaway, Minnies Bar, Abbeyside Post Office and Crotty’s Bar.

Intermediate Football
On Friday night last we played Dungarvan in Dungarvan Club Grounds in our final game of the league section of the championship, where our opponents ran out convincing winners.  Despite the loss we still finished in second place in the league table and will now play Ballyduff Upper in the quarter finals of the Championship.

Junior Hurling
This Saturday both of our Junior teams will be in championship action. Firstly at 3pm our Junior C team play Brickeys in Fraher Field and at 7pm our Junior B team play Fourmilewater in Colligan in the Western semi final.

Club Notes - 2nd August

Jack The Joker

Senior Football
Last Sunday night we played An Rinn in round 2 of the Senior Football Championship in Fraher Field where after what can best be described as a disappointing performance we were defeated by a better side.

Fitting Tribute
On last Friday night we held a mist deserved tribute to Club President Bernard Shields. The format for the night was a This is Your Life and MC Bob O'Brien did an excellent job in bringing the huge attendance through Bernard's service to the club. It was wonderful to see such a huge crowd present for this fitting tribute to Bernard with many traveling from afar to pay tribute to Bernard. We would like to thank Pat O’Brien and all the staff of Minnies Bar for their hospitality on the night.

Deuces Wild
We would like to thank all those who supported our fundraiser in Creation last Friday night. Your support of our club was greatly appreciated.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Bernie Reynolds who passed away recently.  Bernie’s sons and grandsons won numerous county titles in the club colours and we again send our sympathies to Bernie's husband Tommy, sons Tommy, Mark and Pat and daughters Christine and Paula.
We also extend our sympathies to the family and friends of the late Paddy Power who passed away last weekend.  Paddy served the people of Abbeyside for many years as a member of Dungarvan UDC and Waterford County Council. Paddy’s sons Robert and Patrick both wore the club jersey and we again extend our sympathies to the Power family.

Club History
Abbeyside / Ballinacourty GAA Club was formed in 1967 as a result of the amalgamation of Abbeyside Hurling and Football Clubs and Ballinacourty Football Club. It is situated within the Parish of Abbeyside, Ballinroad and Garranbane. Located on the eastern side of the River Colligan, it forms the northern and eastern shorelines of Dungarvan Harbour from Abbeyside Church to Ballinacourty Lighthouse

Development Fund
Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past 10 years with the population of our parish increasing rapidly. We must ensure that we have the best facilities for all our players. We want to ensure that the next generation have the facilities that they need and deserve. We are asking supporters and friends to support this project over the next five years.
