County League
The football league continued last weekend with the Seniors registering a 1 point victory against Kilrossanty last Friday evening in the club grounds on a score line 2-12 to 2-11. The Intermediates were in action also and defeated Bunmahon on Saturday 1-16 to 1-08.

There are no games this week.

U15 Football Championship
The division 1 boys continued their 100% record in the championship with a win against the Brickeys on Monday evening while the division 4 team played some great stuff to claim the win against Clashmore/Kinsalebeg.  Well done lads!

U13 Football Championship
Our division 4 boys had a busy week as they played Ardmore on Monday evening and Kilrossanty on Wednesday evening, recording good victories in both matches.
The division 1 panel hosted Gaultier on Wednesday and came out on top with a four point victory.

Town & Country League
One of our U12 panels lost out to St. Olivers by a point on Friday 15th and our other U12 panel travelled to Ballyduff Upper where they put in a good performance but lost out in the end.
The U11’s boys were on the road to Ardmore and Kilgobnet on Sunday morning and won both matches, playing some great football.

Waterford Primary Schools Games
Congratulations to Coleman Radley, a member of our U13 panel and a pupil of Scoil Gharbháin, who represented the Waterford Primary Schools at half time in the Munster SHC match between Waterford & Tipperary on recently.  Well done Coleman!

Academy Update – Under 9s
The under 9’s have been back at the pitch since February 26th with a 4 week block of football training completed followed by a blitz against Gaultier on March 26th which was a great success. We are currently in the midst of a hurling block and we are played a very entertaining hurling blitz against Midleton last Saturday. With the pitches starting to firm up and the long evenings on the way the kids and coaches are looking forward to a busy summer of activities. We hope to hold a mini All Ireland 9 a side internal competition with the under 10’s during May and we encourage all parents to get involved with this great event.

Well Kids!
The Well Kids programme officially got up and running last Saturday morning and our astroturf was awash with a gaggle of four to six year old boys running and hopping and jumping and falling.  Generally just having great craic! It was great to see the coaches making the most of things like hula-hoops and pool-noodles (not your conventional coaching equipment!) to help start the GAA journey for the young boys in a really fun and positive way.  Our academy is always open to new members so if you have a boy aged between 4 and 10 years old just get in touch through our Facebook page or email abbeycourtyjuvenilesec@gmail.com

Club Notes - 6th April

National Hurling League Champions
Pride of place this week goes to the Waterford Senior Hurlers who scored a magnificent victory over Cork last Saturday evening in the Division 1 hurling league final. It was a particularly proud evening for our own club as we had 3 players, Conor Prunty, Neil Montgomery & Michael Kiely on the starting 15. And of course, Conor had the great honour of lifting the trophy. The win in fact doubles the amount of league medals to be won by club players, with the lads joining Austin Flynn & John McGrath 1963 plus Richie Foley 2007.
All eyes now are on the clash with Tipperary on Easter Sunday in the Munster Championship. Hopefully we can see the momentum built up over the league campaign maintained.

Munster Championship Tickets
Any club member interested in tickets for the aforementioned game please have your name with secretary Jonathan O’Donovan by 6pm Sunday.

Academy Update
Our under 10s are back in full swing with training on Saturdays 10-11.20 and Tuesdays 6.30 to 7.30. The focus at the moment is on football and movement but over the coming weeks, we will be mixing it up with some hurling too. The next few weeks will be busy for the lads as they will be playing in the all-county under 10 football league with 10 other teams from across Waterford. Make sure to come along and give the lads some support. The under 10s and the coaches are delighted to congratulate Conor Prunty, Neil Montgomery, Michael Kiely, and the rest of the Waterford team on their League Final last Saturday - It is great to have such ambassadors for the young players to look up to!

Under 11 Football
Our under 11 boys got their first taste of competitive football on Sunday morning as they made the short trip across the bridge to take on Dungarvan in the Town and Country league. They played some great football and recorded a great win. Well done boys! The other half of our under 11 panel play on Tuesday evening against the Nire. Best of luck lads!

Juvenile Football Championship
It was a busy week for our U13 & U15 footballers as we had four teams in action.
On Monday evening (28th March) our U15 Div1 team had a good win against St Olivers out in Ballinameela while the Div 4 lost unluckily lost out to Affane after leading at half time.
Monday evening (4th April) sees our Div 4 team host Stradbally while the Div 1 boys are away to Rathgormack. Both matches throw in at 6:15PM.
On Wednesday (30th March) our two U13 teams were in action, playing in bitterly cold and windy conditions. The Div 1 boys played Naomh Brid in Modeligo while the Div 4 boys hosted Clashmore/Kinsalebeg and both of our U13 teams recorded convincing victories.
Well done to all the players and mentors involved because it takes a lot of effort and commitment to line out two championship teams in each age group but it's worth it to see so many boys having the opportunity to wear the jersey and play competitive games.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we offer our condolences to the Brennan family Pinewood on the death of Noel.
Noel was a member of the Abbeyside Ballad Group who claimed the Scor All Ireland title in 1981.
Also to Margaret Hogan Ballinacourty on the death of her brother Terry Bowe .
Our thoughts are with both families at this difficult time.
