Joseph "Tuckey" Organ RIP
All in the club were extremely saddened on Saturday morning last to learn of the passing of our President, Joe "Tuckey" Organ.
Of course The Organ family have a long and storied history with our club, with Tuckey himself being one of our greatest supporters.  From an U12 challenge to a senior county final Tuckey would be there cheering on.
For a number of years he also served on the Club Committee and was heavily involved in various fundraising initiatives.
He'll be sorely missed by a great many people and we’d like to extend our sincerest condolences to his family and many friends at this difficult time.

U10 Football
The Ballinacourty U10 footballers travelled to the city on last week to play Gaultier in a series of matches. The games took place in the Ballygunner club grounds and although we were missing a few boys we still had a good gang heading down. The bus left the Friary at 9:30am with the singing, chanting and general racket started at approximately 9:32am. The boys were in good spirits getting off the bus and this translated onto the field where each of our two teams played two really competitive matches against Gaultier, in what was a very enjoyable hour of football. There was a stop on the way home for some well-deserved refreshments followed by plenty more singing, shouting and roaring on the way home.
This brings the curtain down on the U10 season and for this group and so, they will transition out of our academy structure in 2025. They're a really tight group and have shown impressive development, both individually and as a team so they deserve lots of credit. Thanks must go to the parents for their support since this group joined our club in 2019. The five years have flown by, and we look forward to many more years watching this group play for Abbeyside Ballinacourty into adulthood.

Underage Athletic Development Programme
After a considered planning phase, the club will facilitate a structured athletic development programme for our under age players. The programme will run through the winter and will be an opportunity for our young players to develop their athletic capabilities which will further develop their on-field performance. We look forward to good participation from all the relevant age groups.

U6 Hurloween Party
The U6s had a very enjoyable end to the year last recently when they dressed up in their costumes for the club's first ever Hurloween event. This group have made great strides during the year, and this was evident on Saturday during some mixed hurling and football matches. The highlight of these being a great tussle between Ironman, Captain America and Spiderman. We would like to thank Eurospar for kindly donating goody bags for the boys on their last day of training.
Thanks to the parents and coaches for making it a great year and we will see the boys again in spring.

Western U20 'A' Hurling Champions

Congratulations to our U20 players and management team on their 1-15 to 0-15 victory over Fourmilewater in the Western 'A' Hurling Championship Final held in Fraher Field this afternoon. We led by the minimum, 0-8 to 0-7, at the interval before stretching our advantage to six points with ten minutes to go. A scoring burst from our opponents reduced our lead to one point before two late scores clinched victory and our eighth successive divisional title at this age grade. The win qualifies us for the County Final which will take place in the coming weeks.

U13 County Trials
The U14 county development squads for 2025 were announced at the weekend and from the 170 boys that took part in the trials, it was good to see that nine Abbeyside Ballinacourty boys have made the grade. On the football panel we have Aaron Lacey, Dara Power, Fergus Donnelly, Isaac Walsh, Jamie Drummey, Lochlainn Hurney, Luke Walsh and Ronan Sullivan. The boys that made the hurling panel are Dara Power, Luke Walsh and Tadgh O' Connor. While it's great that the boys have been recognised as having lots of potential, it will take plenty of work and dedication to realise that potential. With the help of the dedicated coaches from Bord na nÓg and the continued support and guidance from our coaches in our club, we look forward to watching the boys develop while enjoying their hurling and football. There was an important message from the selectors to the boys that didn't make the panels this time; there will be plenty more opportunities for boys to be selected in the future. It's important that everyone keeps playing and giving their all, anyone that does will be noticed!

Munster U14 Super 10 Hurling
Our U14 hurlers travelled to Mallow on Saturday morning to take part in the Munster 10-aside competition. Twelve teams (two qualifiers from each county) were organized in four groups of three. The Abbeyside boys faced Ballyheigue (Kerry) and Moycarkey/Borris (Tipperary) in their group. Both games were very competitive and having beaten Ballyheigue in the first match, we lost out to Moycarkey/Borris in round two which meant we didn't progress to the semi final stage. Moycarkey/Borris made it to the final, only to be beaten by our long-standing rivals Ballygunner. It was great for the boys to play the top teams from across Munster, they competed really well and will have taken a lot from the games.
