‘Win A House In Waterford’ Draw
We ask all our supporters to please support the
Win a House in Waterford draw, which is ongoing at present. Along with our Camogie and Ladies Football
clubs, we are seeking to raise enough money through this draw to build toilets
and dugout on our new pitch. As well as
having a chance to win a fantastic prize you will be helping us provide better
facilities for all our members.
Tickets are available from any club committee
member or online at www.winahoiseinwaterford.com. If purchasing
online, please remember to use the drop-down menu to select Abbeyside
Ballinacourty as your club.
Minor
Hurling All Ireland Champions
On
behalf of all in the club, we would like to congratulate Aaron Walsh and his
Déise teammates on their superb 1-18 to 0-10 victory over Clare in the
All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship Final in Semple Stadium, Thurles on
Saturday. Aaron is only the sixth
Abbeyside clubman to win an All-Ireland title. Hopefully Aaron will be a member of more
successful club and county teams in the years to come.

Well
Kids 2025!!!
Saturday
morning was throw-in for our 2025 Well Kids activities. The Well Kids initiative is designed by expert
coaches to provide a fun and exciting introduction to the GAA, for children
aged four and five. The primary aim of
Well Kids is to attract young children and parents of all backgrounds to our
GAA clubs. Fun and enjoyment are at the core of Well!Kids and we are aiming for
a top class coaching experience for children in the community. Why not bring your child along next Saturday
to join in the fun - you'll receive a very warm welcome!
A
Day to Remember for Our U11s!
They
filled a 33-seater bus and left Abbeyside at midday in fine voice, with singing
and chanting lasting the full one hour and twenty minutes to Littleton, where
we faced Moycarkey Borris GAA.
The
boys played two very well-contested matches, with the lads from Tipp and
Waterford moving the ball brilliantly. When
the hurling was done, it was into the clubhouse for refreshments, which were
very well received. We thank the
Moycarkey club for their warm welcome and hospitality.
Then
it was back on the bus for the spin into Thurles for a final refuelling stop at
Dr. Morris Park, alongside Semple. Pizzas
were quickly dispatched, and the singing and chanting continued while queuing
at the turnstiles – the atmosphere was brilliant, and our boys added to it!
In
the stand, the boys gave their very vocal support to the amazing minors
throughout the match. The scenes at full
time will be etched in the memories of our young hurlers forever and will
surely help develop their love and enjoyment of our games.
When
it was time to head for home, we gathered the boys on the pitch (it took a
while!), did a last headcount, and returned to the bus for the journey back to
the Déise. Needless to say, the noise
levels were impressively high all the way home – but we can guarantee they all
slept well that night!
All
in all, it was a fantastic day for the boys. The minor team, including our clubmate Aaron
Walsh, are truly an inspiration for all our young hurlers, and we congratulate
them on their epic victory. They’re
setting a great example for the next generation!

U12's at the Southeast Football Sevens
It was an early start for our U12s on Sunday
morning as they travelled to Tinryland GAA in Carlow to take part in the
Souteast Sevens Football tournament. The
Ballinacourty boys were pitched in a group with Naomh Eanna (Wexford), St
Broughans (Offaly) and O'Hanrahans (Carlow). The boys played mighty football to progress
through the group undefeated and won their quarter final. The day came to an end however at the semi
final stage with a loss to Cellbridge. It was a really enjoyable day for the boys and
they represented our club very well.
