This week's photo comes from 1949 and shows the St. Augustine's (Abbeyside) team, as it was known then, prior to the Round 4 Western Junior Hurling Championship clash with Éire Óg. A comprehensive 6-7 to 0-1 victory set up a Western Final against Tourin. A replay of this fixture was ordered after Tourin had fielded two illegal players. A narrow 3-6 to 2-7 defeat meant another year in the junior ranks, but the stay was short-lived as the following year promotion to senior was achieved with victory over Dunhill in the County Final.
