Club Notes - 26th February

Intercounty
It was a good weekend on the intercounty front with both the Senior Footballers and Hurlers recording victories. On Saturday afternoon, Brian Looby and James Beresford were part of the Waterford Senior Football panel who had a tremendous victory over Sligo and Sunday Conor Prunty and Neil Montgomery continued their good form when contributing handsomely to the defeat of Galway. Well doe to the lads and their teammates and we wish them the best of luck in their games next weekend versus Carlow and Tipperary respectively. Unfortunately, there was no such joyful tidings for Colin Foley and his Under 20 team who were defeated by Clare last Thursday.

Under 20 Football
On Saturday next our U20 footballers will be the first club team into championship action this season when they take on St Patrick’s/Naomh Brid in Bohadoon @ 2.30pm. This is the 1st year this grade is being played in Waterford and hopefully the lads can get us off to a winning start.

Senior Football
The Senior Footballers kick off their season on Friday night when we entertain Gaultier in the club ground in the 1st round of the County Football League. Throw in is at 8.00pm.

Membership
With the playing season commencing very shortly we ask all players to get their membership paid quickly. Also non playing members can pay their membership in the coming weeks. Membership can be paid to Kevin Tobin. Kevin will be in the field on Saturday morning between 10.30 and 11.30.

Jack the Joker
Our ever-popular Jack the Joker fundraiser continues this Sunday night in O Connor’s Bar where the jackpot will be €2200 as on Sunday night Collette Veale was drawn out of the drum and chose card number 19 which when turned over was not the joker, but she did win €50. Jim Egan and Laura, Kieran & Darragh Cosgrave won €25.

Deise Draw 2020
The 2020 Deise Draw will commence on the last Wednesday (29th) of April and will continue each month until September. Hopefully we will see a good number getting involved and we get a winner or two during the year as the prizes on offer are fantastic. We will have more info regarding draw dates and prize structure in our notes next week.

Club Bingo
Our club bingo continues in the CBS Hall this Sunday night where the jackpot is €1200.

Sympathy
On behalf of everyone in the club we would like to extend our sympathies to Pajo Lanigan on the death of his mother Eileen who passed away last week. Our thoughts are with all her family and friends at this difficult time.
