Club Notes - 20th July

Shauna McGrath RIP
It was with profound sadness that all in our club learned of the tragic passing of Shauna McGrath on Tuesday morning. As is always the case in such untimely deaths, everyone was left in a state of shock asking why such a bright, beautiful lady was taken from her loving family so young.
Shauna played camogie with our sister club and won an Under 16 All Ireland medal with Waterford in 2015.
Shauna and her sister Cadhla formed an extremely tight knit family with their parents Eleanor and Hiker. Shauna's grandfather Noel Fleming was a former club chairman whilst Hiker wore our club jersey for many years winning County Titles in both codes. Eleanor of course is currently Chairperson of our Camogie Club and she was centrally involved in the installation our Astro Turf and the erection of the floodlights in our club grounds some years ago. For many years Hiker has been the man we turn to in the club to do a variety of jobs in our pitch and Shauna was a constant by his side, they really made an excellent team. As mentioned above the two girls and their parents formed a really tight family unit and we will all miss seeing the happiness and joy that they brought to each other. Shauna, we will miss your warm and caring nature, your beaming smile that could light up a room and of course your fantastic sense of humour and fun!
Our loss of course pales into insignificance compared to that of Shauna's family and close friends. To Eleanor, Hiker, Cadhla and Liam we send our deepest sympathies and promise to be there for you all in the tough times that lie ahead.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Shauna McGrath RIP
