Jimmy Lenihan RIP
There was a profound sense of shock around the parish last Sunday morning as word of the passing of our former Chairman Jimmy Lenihan began to spread.  During the 80’s following the move to our new home in The Burgery there were many fundraising initiatives, many of which Jimmy was to the forefront of.  Those of a certain vintage will remember his ultimately unsuccessful campaign to be Mayor of Abbeyside!!  Whilst he stepped away from active participation in the club, he remained a committed supporter and took delight in any wins and took part in the postmortems following any defeats.
Of course, he was always a very popular figure around the village.  An absolute gentleman to his core anytime you’d have the pleasure of bumping into him you were guaranteed a chat and a bit of craic.  He’ll be sorely missed by his many friends and of course no more so than by his family.
All in the club offer our sincerest condolences to his wife Eileen and children Nicola and James and hope and pray Jimmy is again in the happy embrace of his daughter Michelle.

Medal Presentation
On Tuesday evening, our U13 girls had their medal presentation in Bridgie Terries after a very successful year and winning out the U13 championship.  A huge congratulations to all of you for all of your hard work throughout the year and also to the management, without you it would not have been possible.  We would also like to thank all of the parents who travelled to training and matches with the girls and were there supporting them all along the way.

A big thank you to our own club girls, Megan and Dearbhla for taking the time to present these medals to the girls.  Both Megan and Dearbhla were members of the Waterford senior camogie team in 2023 and are great role models in our club, especially to our younger girls.  A special mention to Bridgie Terries for the use of their facilities on the night and for providing some lovely food, it was greatly appreciated.  We look forward to seeing what 2024 has in store for this incredible team, well done girls!

Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past 10 years with the population of our parish increasing rapidly. We must ensure that we have the best facilities for all our players. We want to ensure that the next generation have the facilities that they need and deserve. We are asking supporters and friends to support this project over the next five years.
