Academy Update

Our academy, for boys aged between 5 and 10, continues every Saturday morning from 10am. There's no better way for children to learn the skills of our games, build friendships, and have fun, so come out any Saturday morning and you'll receive a warm welcome.
 

U11

It was a busy week for our U11 panel because as well as their regular training sessions, they travelled to Tallow on Monday (5th May) to play Cois Bríd in a well contested game of hurling. Three days later they welcomed Ferrybank and Clashmore to the Burgery and again the games were well contested and the boys really enjoyed them. Back to training on Monday and Thursday for the boys and they look forward to welcoming Midleton for a hurling challenge on Saturday morning.
 

U12

Like the U11's, the U12 boys are busy with the Déise Óg programme of games.  On a beautiful Friday evening (9th May) half the panel travelled to Passage to play in a very hotly contested game of hurling while the other half of the group made the shorter journey out to Bushy Park to take on the Brickey Rangers.  The ground was hard, the grass was short and the sliotar was flying. Well done boys.
 

U14

On Wednesday (7th April) we had two teams, with 38 boys in total, togged out to play the U14 Football Championship. The division 1 boys were away to Stradbally and although they battled well, they didn't come away with the victory. The boys in division 5A headed for Clashmore and after an excellent game of football, they finished all square with the hosts. This coming Wednesday (14th May) sees the division 1 team host Gaultier and the division 5A team hit for Ballyduff Upper. Best of luck!
 

U16

Our U16 panel continues to prepare for their upcoming hurling championship and over the last two weekends have played three challenge matches against Ardmore, St. Olivers and Ballygunner. The championship is only around the corner so keep it going boys.
 

Coach Development

Our enthusiastic coaches are always hungry for knowledge and looking for ways to help our young hurlers and footballers develop their skills and enjoy our games. Continuing our series of coach development workshops, we held two further workshops over the past weekend where Joey Doherty, Head of Performance and Talent for Waterford GAA, took our coaches through the importance of athletic development and how to incorporate it into our coaching sessions in a way that children will enjoy it. The workshops were very well attended and it was good to see the collaboration and sharing of ideas amongst the groups. We look forward to facilitating further workshops as the year progresses.

Academy

Our academy for 5 to 10 year olds continues every Saturday morning from 10am.  Our enthusiastic coaches will be on hand to ensure that all our young players have fun while getting active and developing the skills of hurling and football.  New members are always welcome so come along any Saturday morning to join in the fun.
 

U11

The boys played two very competitive mini blitzes on Monday (7th April).  We had a total of 29 boys in action with one group heading east to play in Stradbally and the other heading to the Mill Field in Ballymac.  Both evenings were really enjoyable and all the boys got to show off their hurling in the sunshine.  They're scheduled to play football over the coming weekend so look out for an update.
 

U12

Congratulations to our U12 panel who won the U13 division 4 plate final against Ardmore on Wednesday evening.  The young Ballinacourty boys played a lovely brand of football and credit to Ardmore who put up a very good challenge.  Well done boys!
 

U13 Division 4 Football Plate Winners, 2025

U15

April is a very busy month for the 14 and 15 year olds in our club.  On Monday (7th April) the boys won the U15 division 1 plate final vs Stradbally, in SETU.  They moved the ball very well and showed impressive work rate which meant they went in at half time with a sizeable lead.  The second half saw the traditional fight back from Stradbally and the second half was an exciting affair. Our boys did well to respond and won the game with a scoreline of 3:12 to 2:08.  Next up for the boy was Féile Peil na nÓg.  They played the qualifying rounds on Saturday morning in Ballinameela.  They played St. Oliver’s and Lismore and won both games which meant they qualified for the divsion 1 county final against Gaultier in SETU.  Gaultier proved too strong for us but the fight and spirit in the boys was admirable.  The second half of April is occupied by hurling and the boys will now don the blue and gold and travel to play Na Risig (Mount Sion & St. Saviours) on Tuesday (15th April). Good luck lads!

First Aid

A number of juvenile coaches attended a first aid course on Saturday morning.  The safety and wellbeing of our young players is paramount so well done to all that attended.  Thanks to Kevin Tobin for arranging the course.

U10

Last Wednesday evening saw our Under-10 hurlers travel over the county bounds into Cork for a blitz in Bride Rovers.  It was the first hurling blitz of the season for the lads and it was played in glorious sunshine on a fantastic pitch.  The lads rose to the challenge of the local teams, playing some great matches against Bride Rovers, Kilworth and Castlelyons.
The lads showed plenty energy and skill for a team with only one hurling session under their belts this season and really earned their ice creams after the blitz!!

U11

Having played Lismore a couple of weeks ago, our U11 hurlers take part in the first Deise Óg blitz of the season on Monday (7th April).  We have two teams on the go with one heading to Ballymac to take on Fourmilewater and Ballyduff Upper.  The other half of the group hit for Stradbally to play the hosts and Mount Sion.  Enjoy the hurling boys!
 

U12

This year our U12 panel entered in the U13 championship and after playing a number of round robin matches, they take on Ardmore in the division 4 plate final on Wednesday evening, in Adrmore.  Good luck to the Ballinacourty boys!

U15

The U15 championships are run off on a very condensed format.  Ballinacourty played Lismore in the quarter final on Sunday 30th March, when they ran out comfortable winners.  The semi final was played on Thursday (3rd April) against Gaultier, where after a battling performance our rivals from the east took the victory on a scoreline of 4:09 to 0-11.  This meant that our boys go to the plate final and will meet Stradbally on Monday (7th April) in SETU.  Good luck lads!

Both football teams were in action last weekend, with the Seniors coming out on the wrong side of a very competitive game versus The Nire, whilst the Intermediates recorded a good win over Kilmacthomas.

Condolences

All in the club offer our sincerest sympathies to the McGrath family McCarthyville on the passing of John “Hiker” McGrath.
He was one of life’s gentlemen and his presence around the Village will be sorely missed.  Of course, the McGrath family always were and continue to be great supporters of the club, John himself played a number of years underage and his sons wore the jersey also over the years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

With the new season rapidly approaching, we would like to emphasis the importance of getting your membership paid as soon as possible.   If you have not already done so, please contact our membership officer Kevin Tobin on 087 9954448 to arrange payment. From a playing perspective it is compulsory that you are a member as it ensures you are included in the insurance scheme.  Rates for this year are Adult €150 / Student €75, Married Couple (non-playing) €70, Single (non-playing) €50 and OAP €40. Of course, members of our 300 Club are fully covered.

U13 Football

Our U13 division 4 team travelled to Leamybrien recently to get their first ever taste of championship football against Kilrossanty. It was a very enjoyable outing played in beautiful spring weather. This team is made up of our U12 boys and they gave a really good account of themselves, competing until the very end but on this occasion the hosts took the victory. Well done to the Ballinacourty boys!
