County
Junior 'B' Football Champions 2025
Congratulations
to our Junior 'B' footballers and management team on their magnificent 5-9 to
3-8 victory over Gaultier in the County Final played at a wet and windy
Leamybrien on Saturday afternoon. Leading 3-8 to 0-3 at half time with the aid
of the elements, the lads saw the game through in the second thirty minutes to
record a seven point win over the Eastern champions. This is only our second
county title at this grade and first since 2015.

Senior
Football
Our
senior football semi final versus Rathgormack was postponed in tragic
circumstances on Sunday, owing to the sudden passing of Ollie Drummy. Ollie was
a constant presence for many years in the Fraher Field and was always extremely
accommodating to any requests. He’ll be sorely missed and match day won’t quite
be the same again. Our sympathies to the Drummy family and his wide circle of
friends.
Sympathies
On
behalf of all in the club we’d like to express our deepest sympathies to the
Hayes Family, The Pike on the sad passing of former player Jim Hayes.
Our
thoughts and prayers are with Jim’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Community First Responders
Group
On Saturday 11th October we welcomed the
team from the Dungarvan Community First Responders group to our usual academy
morning. Our young players, who are normally very focused on their games, had
the very welcome distraction of learning the basics of first aid, CPR and
calling the emergency services. The first responders group were really
excellent in communicating this essential information to children and players
alike and we thank them for selecting us to partner with them. Thanks to the
volunteers from the club that helped put and to the event sponsors also.

Cumann na mBunscol
The three primary schools in our parish have been
right in the thick of the Cumann na mBunscol football championship over the
past few weeks, and it was fantastic to see over 50 boys from our club proudly
representing Scoil Mhuire Abbeyside, Garranbane N.S. and Scoil Gharbháin at the
recent qualifiers held in the Dungarvan club grounds.
While the games were played in great spirit, there was
no doubt that boys who usually line out together for our club were extra
determined to come out on top when wearing their school colours and playing
against their clubmates!
The Western Finals took place last Saturday morning,
with the Division 1 decider seeing Scoil Gharbháin face off against Scoil
Mhuire. There was plenty of friendly banter at our U11 and U12 training
sessions in the lead-up to the game, and the match itself didn’t disappoint. It
was nip and tuck throughout, with Scoil Gharbháin clinching victory by a single
point.
Comhghairdeas to Scoil Gharbháin and hard luck to
Scoil Mhuire – both teams represented their schools and our parish with pride.
A huge thank you to the teachers in all three primary schools for the time and
energy they dedicate to developing hurling and football in their schools.
U10 & U11
Both our U10 and U11 boys are still hurling away and
both were in action recently. The U10 boys welcomed St. Mary's (Clonmel) to the
field and had a very good mornings hurling. The U11 boys were on the road to
Killeagh and also had a very good showing in Páirc Uí Cinnéide and at the end
of the match "Up the Village" was being sung more than the Killeagh
song!
U13
The matches are coming thick and fast for our U13
hurlers in their championship. We have two teams competing, and both have been
giving great accounts of themselves. Two weeks ago, the Division 2 boys secured
a convincing win against Mount Sion, while on the same evening the Division 4
team – made up of our U12s – had a fine victory over Dungarvan.
The Division 4 boys had a quick turnaround that
weekend, putting in a strong performance against Ardmore but losing out on this
occasion. Most recently, on Tuesday, the
Division 2 team were narrowly beaten by Clonea Power, and the Division 4 boys
also lost to Clashmore. This is the first real competitive championship for
many of these players, and it’s fantastic to see the enjoyment, effort, and
team spirit they’re bringing to every game.
U16
The division 4 footballers were involved in another
barnstormer of a match on Tuesday (7th Oct) when Sacred Heart/Ferrybank were
the visitors to the Burgery. It was tit for tat for most of the game but a few
late goals sealed the victory for the Ballinacourty boys. The panel was made up
of a mix of U14's, U15's and U16's and all played their part in the win, not
least our goalie; Aaron Lacey from our U14 panel. Aaron pulled off multiple
point blank saves to keep his team in the match. St. Pats came to play the boys
on Sunday morning but just edged it in a closely fought contest.
The division 1 team lost out to Clan na Gael on Sunday
(11th Oct) in Butlerstown but recovered well to beat Tramore at home
last Thursday. It has been a tricky
start to the championship with injuries and other factors but the boys will
keep going and will be in the mix later in the championship.
