‘Win A House In Waterford’ Draw
We ask all our supporters to please support the
Win a House in Waterford draw, which is ongoing at present. Along with our Camogie and Ladies Football
clubs, we are seeking to raise enough money through this draw to build toilets
and dugout on our new pitch. As well as
having a chance to win a fantastic prize you will be helping us provide better
facilities for all our members.
Tickets are available from any club committee
member or online at www.winahoiseinwaterford.com. If purchasing
online, please remember to use the drop-down menu to select Abbeyside
Ballinacourty as your club.
Hurling
League Champions
Well
done to our Junior Hurlers who won the Division 7 of the county league over the
weekend when they defeated Ballydurn 1-19 to 1-07. This is our 2nd
trophy of the year, adding to the football title won a few weeks back.
Academy
Action
On
the longest day of the year, our club grounds were a hive of activity as the
Academy sessions lit up under glorious sunshine. With huge crowds of people in attendance, boys
aged 5 to 10 enjoyed a fantastic morning of hurling and football. The energy and fun were infectious as the next
generation of Abbeyside and Ballinacourty stars played with smiles and spirit. Call out any Saturday morning from 10am
to join in on the fun.
Under
8 Hurlers Take on Kiltha Óg
Amongst
the bustle of the Academy morning, our Under 8s took to the field for a highly
enjoyable hurling match against Kiltha Óg from East Cork. It was a classic morning of "clash of the
ash" with great pulling on the ball and lots of excitement throughout. The young Abbeyside hurlers gave it their all
and earned their well-deserved post-match treats!

Under
11s in Action
After
the Academy wrapped up on Saturday morning, the Under-11s took to the main
field – currently in immaculate condition – for their matches. Despite a slightly reduced playing pool due to
holidays, our boys put in great performances in both hurling and football
against St. Molleran’s. There was plenty
of skill and determination on show with the small and big ball, and the lads
are now eagerly looking forward to their trip on Saturday to play
Moycarkey-Borris – followed by cheering on the county minors in their All
Ireland final in Semple Stadium.
Annual
Village Poc Fada
Our
U11 and U12 players took part in the much-loved annual Village Poc Fada,
continuing a special tradition in a beautiful setting on Abbeyside beach. Each team of three carefully picked their
course, avoiding rocks and aiming for a long roll on the hard sand. The 2km route began at the church, turned at
the cove, and saw the young hurlers battle a stiff wind on the return leg – a
fantastic display of skill and teamwork!

Club
Clean-Up Day
Led
by Kevin, a hardworking and enthusiastic team – ranging in age from 14 to a
fair bit older! – took part in a big tidy-up around the club. Volunteers painted, weeded, swept, picked
litter, and repaired fences, all in a wonderful demonstration of club pride and
community spirit. Well done and thank
you to all who rolled up their sleeves!
Congratulations
