Club Notes - 6th November

Jack The Joker
No. Drawn - 45
Our popular Jack the Joker Fundraiser will continue this Sunday night in Kennedy’s Live where the Jackpot will be €5,958 as on Sunday night Marie Burns was drawn out of the drum and picked card 45 but did not find the Joker, yet she did win €50.  Dennis Cosgrave and Tomás Kiely won €25 each.

Senior Football
On Sunday last our Senior Footballers recorded a very good victory over Limerick Champions Dromcollogher/Broadford in Fraher Field in the Quarter Final of the Munster Club Championship. It was great to see a large crowd of club supporters there to cheer on the team, and hopefully they can all make the journey to Clare in two weeks time for our Semi Final clash. We would also like to thank all the local businesses who supported the club by taking out an ad in the programme for the match and we also thank those who made donations to the club or purchased the programme.

Club Bingo
This Sunday our Club Bingo moves to the Park Hotel where we are hosting a Monster Bingo with €3,000 in prizes and the Bingo gets under way at 3pm.

County Awards
On Friday night last it was announced that the late Tony Mansfield and Seamus O’Brien are to both be honored by the County Board at this year’s award function for the lifetime of service they gave to the Association but especially for their roles as GAA journalists. For many years both men reported on the GAA both locally and nationally keeping all followers of our games up to date with their insightful and respected commentaries. This is indeed a fitting and deserved tribute for Tony and Seamus’ families and all of us in the club share in their delight. Also Gary Hurney has been nominated for Footballer of the Year, whilst the Club has been nominated for Club of the Year.

Development Fund
Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past 10 years with the population of our parish increasing rapidly. We must ensure that we have the best facilities for all our players. We want to ensure that the next generation have the facilities that they need and deserve. We are asking supporters and friends to support this project over the next five years.
