Club Notes - 30th October

No. Drawn - 22
Jack The Joker
Our popular Jack the Joker Fundraiser will continue this Sunday night in Kennedy’s Live where the Jackpot will be €5,710 as on Sunday night the Chrissie Terry was drawn out of the drum and picked card 22 but did not find the Joker, yet she did win €50. Rossie Cosgrave and Donnacha Cosgrave won €25.

Junior Hurling County Final
On Saturday last our Junior Hurlers made the trip to Walsh Park for the County Final against Erins Own. In difficult underfoot conditions it was our opponents who made the better start to the game but a goal before half time brought us right back into contention. In the second half it was nip and tuck between the sides and with time running out Erins Own held a one point advantage. Despite the heroic efforts of the team we just couldn’t get that equalising point to give us the draw our efforts merited. Having said that we would like to heartily congratulate Erins Own on their victory. Whilst we may have fallen just short on the day the team certainly did themselves and the club proud. They played with a spirit which they have shown in all their games to date this year, and manager Michael Collins and his selector Michael Kelleher can be proud of the performance of their players.

Sympathy
On behalf of all in the club we would like to extend our sympathies to the family and friends of the late Mrs. Mai Feehan, Friars Walk who passed away recently. Mrs. Feehan was a member of the Ladies Committee for many years in the club and did a huge amount of work to help clear the debt when we moved to our present club grounds whilst her son Sean was a member of the Ballinacourty panel in 1979 and 1981 when we won the County Senior Championship. We would also like to send our sympathies to the Enright and O’Regan families, and all the friends of the late Pauline Enright who passed away last week. A minutes silence was observed in Pauline’s memory prior to our Junior Hurlers County Final on Saturday as the Enright family has given fantastic service to our club for many decades now and her husband Johnny wore the club jersey with distinction during his playing career. Finally we send our sympathies to the family and friends of the late Tony Murphy, Dungarvan who passed away recently. Tony’s brother Sean played Senior Hurling with Abbeyside in the 1970’s.
