Juvenile Notes - 12th October

Under 11
We took on the Nire last Monday week in the Town & Country Football League in Abbeyside. Having won up in the Mill Field earlier in the year the boys were hoping to do the double. At half time we were a goal down. In to the second half and the boys took over and won after a good battle. That's nearly it for the year. We'll do a bit of hurling for a few weeks now before we finish up. Well done to the lads on what has been a good year on the field for them.

Under 10
Our Under ten team had two handy run outs this week with two challenge games. On Friday night they took on Fourmilewater under lights and on Sunday afternoon they took on Ballygunner before the Senior Hurling Championship match of the same two teams in Abbeyside at three. The lads played well in both matches and are nearly at the end of a long year. This group will take on the Brickies next weekend.

Under 15
Our Under 15 Football team begin their championship next Sunday morning.

U8 & U9 Parish Football League
We had a big turn-out for the first night of our Parish Football League on Friday evening last. We played two (2) rounds & a total of eight (8) games in total.
In what were very competitive & closely contested games, the round 1 winners were Fenians, Na Fianna, Pearses & Wolfe Tones.
In Round 2, Fenians claimed a further 2 points with a win over O’Donovan Rossa, Sarsfields & Na Fianna drew 6-4 to 7-1. Michael Davitts claimed their first win of the series over Cuchulains whilst Wolfe Tones edged out Pearses.
Fenians & Wolfe Tones have four points, Na Fianna have three, Pearses & Davitts each have two, Sarsfields have one, with O’Donovan Rossa & Cuchulains yet to get off the mark.
This Friday evening will be crucial to the series, as there will be a total of three rounds played. Throw in at 6pm & proceedings will run until 730pm. Games will be played under the floodlights on the main pitch.

U12 Football
Our U12 footballers played Gaultier on Friday in the club grounds in the Town & Country League. It was the final match for both teams with the winning team taking the Town & Country League title for this year. It was a tough opening half but we went in at half time 3 points up. The second half was a different story with Gaultier scoring some great scores to put them up by 1 point with a few minutes left. It looked like we were going to lose but then Tomás Nee scored a great goal to make us win by 2 points. Well done to all involved.

The panel was: Charlie Gough, Oisin Brazil, Andrew Norris, Jack Kiely, Michael Walsh, Mark McCarthy, Charlie Treen, Jack McGrath, Rian Cosgrave, Seanie Callaghan, Rory Tyrell, Tomas Nee, Conor Bohane, Edmond Spratt , Eddie Phelan, Eoin Kiely and Fergie Slevin.
