Juvenile Update
Our U8 footballers had a great morning down in the SETU Arena last Saturday morning (18th May) playing in the All County blitz. It's great for the boys to get to play in this fine facility against boys from lots of other clubs in the county. They had great fun and continue their training every Saturday morning.

U13 Division 1 Plate Final
Our U13's travelled to Walsh Park on Saturday morning (25th May) where they played Stradbally in the division 1 plate final. The lads put in a great effort in what was a tight contest but unfortunately lost out at the final whistle.

U15 Division 1 Football County Champions
It was another journey to Waterford on Monday (20th May), this time for our U15 footballers. Gaultier were the opposition and our boys had a strong focus going into the game having lost to our eastern rivals in the first round of the championship. From the outset it was clear that the Ballinacourty boys were in the right frame of mind and took an early lead. As expected Gaultier rallied began to gain a foothold towards the end of the first half. It was in the second half that our lads really kicked on and showed very impressive heart and teamwork, which when combined with quality football, meant that they were going to finish the match as the champions. Well done boys (and coaches) on a very impressive season.

Feile 2024 Hurling
On Monday (27th May) the qualifiers for the 2024 Feile hurling took place at our club grounds where we played. Keep an eye out on social media for updates.

Academy Update
It was another lovely sunny Saturday morning at the field and the academy boys really made the most of it.  There was loads of hurling, football and fun throughout all the age groups from U6 to U9.  Our academy is a really enjoyable experience for any young boy who wants to get active, develop their movement and agility while learning the skills of hurling and football.  If you have a son aged between 5 and 10 who might be interested in joining in on the fun, bring them along any Saturday morning and we'll look after them.

U10
The U10s welcomed An Ghealtacht and Gaultier to the Burgery on what was a beautiful Sunday morning.  They played just under an hour of really competitive football and relished the challenge from our visitors.

U10 Footballers

U15
Tuesday night (14th May) was an "up and down" night for our U15 footballers. The division 4 boys played with great heart against St Pat's but unfortunately lost out at the final whistle. They were disappointed with the result but on reflection they can be proud of their performances throughout the football season.
In contrast, the division 1 team had a convincing win over Stradbally in Kill. The boys have been building momentum as they've navigated the championship and will need to make a further step up in the county final against Gaultier on Monday evening (20th May). Best of luck boys we're all behind ye!

Junior League victory makes history for Abbeyside Camogie Club!
Last Saturday evening club history was made for our Adult club, when they won the league final, a first for the club!  Our adult team has only been in place for the last few years, and this group has gone from strength to strength!  Their win was dedicated to their loved and never forgotten teammate Shauna McGrath, who lined out many times with this team in her No 1 jersey.  Thanks to Ballyduff Upper for a sporting game.  Well done girls, you have worked hard for this win, and wishing you the very best of luck in the championship!

Academy
The sunshine last Saturday morning was very welcome and we had a big turnout for our academy.  It was great to see all the boys with hurleys in hand running, jumping and pulling on the ball as they had great craic with their friends and coaches.  Thanks to all the refreshment crew that are on hand rain hail or shine to dole out the treats after training.  On warm days like last Saturday, the juice and biscuits are essential for cool-down and recovery!
The only gang that weren’t at the field on the day was our U9’s who were playing a hurling blitz in Waterford against Ballygunner and Mount Sion.

U13
Our U13 footballers are awaiting a date for the div 1 plate final, when they will take on our neighbours Stradbally.  Best of luck boys.

U15
Both our U15 football panels are in action this week in their respective county semi finals.  On Tuesday (14th May) the division 1 panel will travel to Kill to take on Stradbally while the division 4 boys play St. Pat’s in the Dungarvan club grounds.  Good luck to all.

We had a great turnout, and also used the skills of some recently qualified "Young Whistlers" Orla, Abbie and Cathal - keep up the great work!
Thanks to all of our super U8 and U10 girls for putting on such a great performance, thanks to all of the coaches for all the work that you do, and to all of our volunteers on the day without whom, it would not have been possible.

Academy
Our academy is for boys aged between five and ten years old and runs every Saturday morning from 10am. Our enthusiastic coaches are always on hand to make sure that any newcomers receive a warm welcome and lots of fun. The field was a little quieter on Saturday, due mainly to boys playing matches. The U8's were on the road to play an enjoyable blitz in Cappoquin and the U10's welcomed Naomh Brid to the Burgery on Saturday afternoon.

U11
The U11’s had a busy week starting off on Monday evening with the boys first hurling fixture of the year. this was a Deise Óg Blitz, one team travelled to Lismore taking on the challenge of Lismore and Stradbally and the other team playing at home against Cois Bride and St Olivers. They followed this up on Friday when they welcomed Killeagh U11s for a home fixture and having had a game under their belt you could already see the progress made. The conditions were great, and all the boys contributed, the games were extremely competitive which is sure to stand them in good stead as the season progresses. Special mention to young whistler Cathal McGrath who refereed two of the games on Friday night and was exemplary in the way he dealt with the children and managed the games.

U11 Hurlers

Young Whistler
Well done to Cathal McGrath who refereed his first matches since completing a refereeing course as part of the transition year programme. He was busy over the weekend, officiating for the U11's on Friday and the U10's on Saturday. Well done Cathal!

U13 Division 1 Football – Round 4
Well done to our boys who drew against Gaultier on Wednesday (24th April) evening on a score line of 2-9 to 2-9. Playing against the breeze in the first half, Ballinacourty got off to a great start and played a lovely brand of football. We had 4 different players that scored and seemed to be in the driving seat. However, Gaultier with less time on the ball, were clinical in front of goal and did not miss their opportunities. At half time, Ballinacourty were down by 2 points on a scoreline of 1-5 to 2-3. In the second half Ballinacourty started strong and kicked over 3 lovely points. Gaultier stayed in touch with 3 frees. As the game played out it was very close and could have gone anyway. Well done to Gary Kiely for his great block down to deny Gaultier from scoring in the last play of the game.
We await the results of Stradbally vs Rathgormack to see if we progress to the county semi final.

U15
It was a very busy week for the U15 boys. On Monday (22nd April) the division 1 boys hosted St. Olivers and put in a very good performance to win with a scoreline of 2-14 to 2-4. Unfortunately, our full forward Alfie Wyse suffered a broken finger and will be out of action for a few weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery.
On the same evening, our U15 division 4 boys travelled to play Portlaw. They got off to an excellent start knocking over 1-04 in the first 10 minutes. Portlaw came back into the game with a couple of goals of their own and it was nip and tuck for the remainder of the match. The work rate and spirit of the Ballinacourty boys was admirable and it was this work rate, along with some lovely football, that resulted in the boys claiming a two point victory with a scoreline of 3-12 to 5-04.
The next round of the U15 championship is on 1st May when the division 1 boys travel to play Stradbally while the division 4 panel host St. Pats. Best of luck boys!

Féile 2024
On Sunday we had 25 U15's in Stradbally to take part in the Féile 2024 qualifiers. A win over Stradbally and a narrow defeat to Gaultier meant that we didn't qualify, with Gaultier going on to represent Waterford in the national competition.

Camogie News

U16 First Championship Game Win against Ballyduff
It was another win for our U16 girls, who overcame the challenge of Ballyduff this time. A great first half and challenging second where plenty of defending had to be done, well done girls! This group won’t have another championship game until July, however training will continue.

Intercounty
First off this week, congratulation to Waterford and especially our own lads Conor, Neil and Michael on a massive win over Cork in the 1st round of the Munster championship. This was a great occasion in front of a capacity Walsh Park with an excellent performance. It’s great to get a win on the board and it’s on now to Tipp in 2 weeks’ time.
Unfortunately, the Senior footballer and U-20 hurlers were both defeated. There’ll be other days for these and hopefully we’ll gat another few wins on the board.

County Leagues
The county leagues continued over the weekend with both football teams in action. The Intermediates went down by 2 points against Bunmahon on Thursday, whilst the Seniors had a good win over An Rinn on Saturday.
This coming weekend Gaultier and Fenor provide the opposition.

Academy Update
The boys from the U6 to U10 groups didn't let the bad weather interrupt their Saturday morning fun over the past weeks, but the glorious sunshine on Saturday meant that that there was a great buzz out at the field amongst our young players, their parents, and the coaches too!
The sliotars were flying with the U6's in the astroturf, while out on grass the U7's and U8's were honing their skills with the big ball and making the most of the firm ground.
On the main pitch the U9's welcomed An Ghealtacht and Ardmore in the Déise Óg football league. It was lovely to see young Adam Drummey return to action after a long term injury, and scoring a goal to boot!
The other half of the group travelled to play St. Pat's and Dungarvan. Well done boys!

U10
After a good block of football, the boys picked up the hurleys this week, both to keep the eye in and to introduce a bit of variety. They play the next round of the Déise Óg U10 football League this weekend and are looking forward to find out who they will be playing.

U11
Like the U9s and U10s, the U11s have two teams in their Deise Óg league. On Monday 15th, one team played Lismore and Dungarvan in the Burgery while the other group played St Mary's in Bonmahon. Both teams did really well and enjoyed the challenge!

U12
Our U12s made the most of the good weather with two outings this week. Friday saw them in action against St Marys where they put on a fantastic team display of hurling. On Sunday they hosted Rathgormack in a tough encounter which saw a slow first half display but a mighty second half. The lads continue with training this week and are on the road for hurling on Friday.

U13
The championship campaign continued for the U13s with a visit to Lismore where they lost out by four points. Next up is Gaultier on Wednesday evening in the Burgery. Good luck lads!

U15
The division 1 team played the Nire on Monday 15th in the Mill field. It was a tough match but the Ballinacourty boys ran out convincing winners with a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-08. They host St Oliver's in the next round on Monday 22nd.
The division 4 panel were scheduled to play Ballyduff Upper on Monday 15th but the match was postponed due to a shortage of referees. On Monday 22nd they travel to Portlaw in what will be the second match in the championship. Best of luck to both panels.

County Duty
Six boys from our juvenile section donned the county colours over the weekend. On Saturday, Dara Byrne, Rian Cliffe, Killian Hagan and Fionnán Murray played for the Waterford U14 hurling development squad in UL against Limerick. Well done boys and keep up the good work.
On Sunday it was the turn of Lochlainn Hurney, (Scoil Mhuire) and Tadgh O' Connor (Scoil Gharbhán) to wear the white and blue. The two boys from our U13 panel played at half time in Walsh Park during Waterford's win over Cork. The boys did their families, their schools and their club very proud and had a fantastic day.

Academy Update
Our Saturday morning academy for boys aged from 5 to 10 continues with our enthusiastic coaches putting on fun and energetic coaching sessions. New members are always welcome so call out to us any Saturday morning from 10am to join in the fun.

U10
On what was a very busy Saturday morning, half of our U10 football panel headed across the bay to An Rinn where they played the hosts and Clashmore in the Déise Óg county football league. Despite a thorough soaking from a seriously heavy shower, the Ballinacourty spirit wasn't dampened and our boys played some very good football and had great craic.
The following day, it was turn of the Sunday morning shift to take to the field in the Burgery. They had a good contests with Dungarvan and St Pat's and played very well. Like the other half of the group the day before, the boys really enjoyed the run out.
The U10 leagues are played under the rules of the "GAA Go Games". There are no league tables and the focus is on allowing our young players to develop and have fun playing against teams from across the county. The boys are looking forward to plenty more games as the weather improves. Thanks to the parents for attending the games and supporting in a positive way. The games mean a lot more to the boys when there's a good crowd on the sidelines encouraging everyone!

U11
Ballinacourty U11’s had Clonmel Commercials down for 2 challenge games with our 2 x U11 Teams. A great evening of football was had by all.

U12
Our U12 footballers took to the road and headed down to Gaultier last Friday night to kick start their 2024 season. After a competitive, tough game of football from both teams, the game finished level at the final whistle. Well done boys.

U13
It was another busy week for the u13 boys who played Rathgormack at the field on Wednesday evening (10th April). It was a very close game with our lads losing out by four points in the end. On Friday they played a selection from Ring school in what was another good contest. Next up is an away match against Lismore on Wednesday (17th April). Good lock lads!

U15
All of last week's U15 championship matches were called off because of the rain but both our U15 football panels are in action on Monday (15th April). The division 1 boys travelling to play the Nire and the division 4 panel hosting Ballyduff Upper. Keep an eye on our socials fur updates.
