Club Notes - 30th September

Covid Update

On Thursday last a member of our senior football team informed the club that he was awaiting a Covid test as he was classified as a close contact of a person who had tested positive. The club committee convened that evening and made the decision to suspend all club activity for a 48-hour period. As a club we have a duty of care to protect the wellbeing of all our players and members and this decision was taken wholly on that basis. Thankfully the test returned negative and activity has returned to normal. We’re of course delighted that this was the outcome, but it does serve as a potent reminder of the ongoing risks and we’d appeal to everyone to remain vigilant.

Senior Football

Given the circumstances outlined above the County Semi Final versus The Nire scheduled for last Saturday was postponed. The game has been re-fixed for next Saturday in Fraher Field with a throw in time of 7.00pm. This will undoubtedly be a very stern test and we wish Lar and all the team the very best of luck.

As per current Government guidelines the club will be restricted to 100 supporters on the night. The game will however be streamed live. Please see the Waterford County Board website for details.

Deise Draw 2020

The 3rd draw will take place in the coming weeks. As this is one of our primary fundraising streams, we’d appeal to all our members and supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member or promoter if you haven’t already done so.

Jack The Joker

The ever-popular Jack The Joker draw took place in Minnies on Monday night last. Joe Cleary was drawn and picked number 25. This however wasn’t the Joker but he did win €50. Consequently, the jackpot rolls on to next week and will be €3,500. John Clancy and Paddy King also won €25.
