Club Notes - 4th November
First up at 3.30 the hurlers took the field, led by our own Conor Prunty to take on Cork. This is the 1st time an Abbeyside player has been captain of the senior hurlers in a championship encounter and is tremendous honour for Conor himself and a huge source of pride to his family and the club.
It was great to see the team play with a bit of flair and no little drive and determination to come out on top and book a return to the Munster Final. Both our lads acquitted themselves admirably with Conor putting in an assured and rock steady shift at full back and Neil Montgomery winning some valuable possessions when introduced. Well done to all involved and we look forward now to a clash with Limerick on the 15th of November.

Club Gear Order Form
No doubt many of you are currently planning for Christmas a little earlier than normal with the huge amount of uncertainty around at present. With this in mind we are thrilled to be able to show you the designs for our new leisure wear tops which we will be taking orders for over the next 2 weeks.
As well as these tops we will have matching tracksuit ends along with our training jersey, Abbeyside jersey, Ballinacourty jersey, gear bags and jackets.Wednesday, October 14, 2020
Club Notes - 14th October
We understand the frustration that this will inevitably cause amongst the membership, but in these unprecedented times there can be no compromise when it comes to the safety of our players and by extension our family and friends. This cloud will pass but until then we’d ask you all to remain vigilant and continue to adhere to the published guidelines. We need to pull together as a club, a parish and a community to get through this.
This week’s draw, and all draws until further notice will take place in the clubhouse.

Covid Update
We received word from Croke Park Monday lunchtime that all GAA games
suspended with immediate effect. Whilst obviously disappointed given the
upcoming County Final we will of course adhere stringently to the new guideline
as the safety of players and members is our number 1 priority. We will of course provide updates as they
become available.
Senior Football
The Senior footballers put in a fine display against The Nire last
Saturday to book a place in the County Final. On what was a perfect evening for
football both teams produced an exciting game with the result in doubt right up
to the end. After a slow start we began to grow into the game as the 1st
half progressed and then flew out of the block in the 2nd half and
established a game winning lead before the water break.
We now face off against Rathgormack in a repeat of last year’s final. This was of course originally fixed for Walsh Park next Saturday, but as outlined above the game cannot now go ahead. As of now we don’t know when the game will take place but as stated above we’ll provide updates as and when they become available.
Deise Draw 2020
The 3rd draw will take place in the coming weeks. As this is
one of our primary fundraising streams, we’d appeal to all our members and
supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member or promoter if you
haven’t already done so.
Jack The Joker
The ever-popular Jack The Joker draw took place in Minnies on Monday
night last. Neil Moore was drawn and picked number 11. This however wasn’t the
Joker but he did win €50. Consequently, the jackpot rolls on to next week and
will be €3,600. Evan Collins and Michael O Halloran also won €25.

Club Notes - 30th September
Covid Update
On Thursday last a member of our senior football team informed the club
that he was awaiting a Covid test as he was classified as a close contact of a
person who had tested positive. The club committee convened that evening and
made the decision to suspend all club activity for a 48-hour period. As a club
we have a duty of care to protect the wellbeing of all our players and members
and this decision was taken wholly on that basis. Thankfully the test returned
negative and activity has returned to normal. We’re of course delighted that
this was the outcome, but it does serve as a potent reminder of the ongoing
risks and we’d appeal to everyone to remain vigilant.
Senior Football
Given the circumstances outlined above the County Semi Final versus The
Nire scheduled for last Saturday was postponed. The game has been re-fixed for
next Saturday in Fraher Field with a throw in time of 7.00pm. This will
undoubtedly be a very stern test and we wish Lar and all the team the very best
of luck.
As per current Government guidelines the club will be restricted to 100
supporters on the night. The game will however be streamed live. Please see the
Waterford County Board website for details.
Deise Draw 2020
The 3rd draw will take place in the coming weeks. As this is
one of our primary fundraising streams, we’d appeal to all our members and
supporters to purchase a ticket from any committee member or promoter if you
haven’t already done so.
Jack The Joker
The ever-popular Jack The Joker draw took place in Minnies on Monday
night last. Joe Cleary was drawn and picked number 25. This however wasn’t the
Joker but he did win €50. Consequently, the jackpot rolls on to next week and
will be €3,500. John Clancy and Paddy King also won €25.
